I have a network camera set up in Sunny’s room with night vision. I recorded him one night, and while I didn’t sit and watch the entire 8 hours or so, each clip is 6 minutes long and I skipped a few times within each clip. I never saw him sleeping. He was always doing something. He is always so quiet at night, I thought he would at least sleep a little bit. With the night vision, when his eye are open, it’s a big glowing ball. You can tell when he shuts his eyes. He shut them like twice for no longer thn a second each.lol He mostly groomed himself all night. He’d sit up, groom, be still but use his ears like satellites, lay down, get up, groom, eat a little bit of hay, lay down, sit up, groom, etc, etc, like he never stops.

Do rabbits kind of “cat nap”, sleep in small periods of time?

He must sleep the most during the day…

I’ve noticed throughout the day my rabbits take power naps. They sleep, get up, munch on some hay, go back to sleep, get up, groom… Stuff like that lol they are most active at night and early morning from what I have learned with my buns

Rabbits also often sleep with their eyes open

I think Sally keeps them open. But Harley prefers his shut. He looks so serene and Sally just looks…. Possessed lol!

                  Such an interesting idea!

I noticed that my buns will play all night long and sleep during the day. Buns can, also, sleep with their eyes open as stated above by the others. =] My girl likes to sleep with her eyes half open/half closed.

How can you tell if they’re sleeping if their eyes are always open? Are there other signs?

The bun we had previously, a lionhead named Zoe, was owned by my BF for 7 years and he swears he NEVER saw her sleeping w/ her eyes closed. Once in a while he could walk up to her and wave his hand in front of her open eyes and assume she didn’t respond because she was sleeping.
