I want to provide my bunnies with a bowl of water because I read on here that it’s difficult for them to get water out of the bottle and they only get a little bit out at a time.

I was just wondering what type of bowl I should get. I’m worried they will attempt to tip the ceramic crocks. Right now my male has a hanging plastic food bowl that attaches to the side of his expen, and he has even taken to knocking the bowl out of its base and spilling his pellets everywhere. I’m worried he will do the same with a hanging bowl of water.

My main concern is our hardwood floor. The expen is on a piece of plywood with tile, but I’m worried that the water will spill over the side and get into the hardwood floor.

        Any suggestions?

Harley loves tossing his veggie bowl around everywhere! He has a kennel crock and I don’t see how it would be possible for him to twist the crock off because I even have difficulty getting the bowl off lol but it works well for me he also has a water bottle and drinks quite a bit from the bottle as well.

A heavy ceramic bowl shouldn’t be able to be flipped unless he’s super bunny! I would get a low and flat DOG bowl with very thick ceramic edge. When you pick it up, you should feel it weigh your wrist down. You don’t have to fill the bowl with water, just about an inch in the bottom should be fine, and just replenish it as needed.

I always have a water bottle and heavy crock available. Meadow seems to prefer the crock, Max is always guzzling from the bottle, but I’ve seen them both use both. There will also be some degree of evaporation from an open crock, so it’s good to have back-up.

Skipper is really strong and can flip any ceramic pet food bowl that I have come across. So I actually use a mini pie ceramic bowl for water.

Opal will drink from her bottle even if a croc of water is avaliable but cas wont touch the bottle… I give hare a heavy ceramic croc that i keep re-filling she can occasionally tip it but she has to be really looking for attention…

I use ceramic crocks for my bunnies and they never tip them. Not even my lop and he loves to make a mess and tip everything in his condo that he can.

I use one like this. It attaches on to the side of the cage, and you can take just the bowl off (it attaches and comes off easily.) No way they can move it / throw it around

I began with a bowl, but when my trio started doing time trials through it, I decided to hang a bottle above it. They rattle the bottle and get some in the bowl and some on the floor, but I put newspaper down and change it twice a day. Their litter box/hay bin is at the other end of the cage, so it seems to work.

I have tried every bowl out there for my rabbit sunshine even a heavy crock she manages to dump the water out. I think she just loves seeing me clean up her messes as she sits back and laughs. I have just learned to deal with the spills. I would recommend either a heavy crock or a bowl that attaches to the cage.

                          I use this: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4191241&f=PAD%2FpsNotAvailInUS%2FNo

My bun does not attempt to tip her bowl over. it used to be used for pellets, but now it is used for water. I have to clean the bowl a lot, but it is worth having the bunny drink more water than dealing with an annoying leaky bottle.
