I live in Alaska and we don’t have many pet stores to choose from near by.  I’m looking for a brand that is as good as oxbow that I might be able to find for Tesla’s food.  I’m not sure if anyone on here is from Alaska, but the closest pet store to me is called Pet Zoo.

Also, I used to have rats and to help keep their nails down I put a rough pumice rock under their water bottle so they could file their nails when they went to drink, I’m wondering if something similar would work for bunnies?

I would be afraid that with the natural tendency that rabbits have with chewing that they would try to eat the pumice stone. You can give your buns diggy cardboard boxes. Those seem to help with keeping nails short. You can, also, cut the nails of your bun. If you’re too afraid to do it (like me) have your vet do it. My little girl is too feisty for me to even attempt to cut her nails so I just let the vets deal with her.

The key to a good pellet is high in fiber and low in protein. What is the nutritional value for Pet Zoo?

If you can’t find Oxbow, the important thing to try to find a pellet that has the following nutritional requirements (information available both on the House Rabbit Society website and the BUNNY INFO portion of binkybunny):

            Recommended Nutritional Value:
            Fiber 18% minimum (20 -25% best)
            Fat 1 – 2% max
Protein 12 – 14% max (long-haired breeds may need higher)
            Calcium 1% max

As for nail filing, I think a pumice stone certainly can’t hurt but I very much doubt that it’ll have enough effect to replace nail trimming, unfortunately.

They didn’t have anything good for him at the pet store near by, so I’ll make the hour drive into the city tomorrow to go to pet smart, I know they have the oxbow there

It might be tricky being in Alaska but I would start looking online to see what companies ship to Alaska with reasonable shipping charges.

You might just have to buy in super bunk and store it.
