I have a male and female and they are a year old. I have had the female for a year and the male we have had for 6-8 months. The are both fixed and have gotten along great from the start.

They are in an NIC cage with an xpen attached for more room. We keep them in there at night and while we are not home but they are free to roam the house when we are home. the xpen has a carpet rug under it and it has worked well for 6 months but now all of a sudden someone is peeing on it.

I cleaned it thoroughly hoping they would go back to using the litter box but it isn’t helping. The female is kinda bossy from time to time, mounting the male any time she thinks he is being rude so now I am wondering if she is the one peeing and is it a territorial thing?

Help please!!! What can I do do get them to stop peeing on the floor?!

Are you sure no one has any health issues? Although change in litter habits can be behavioral, a lot of times it can be a sign of health problems. Have you noticed any other changes in either of them?

I agree that ruling out a health issue is important when there is a sudden change in Urinating habits. Have you noticed either bunny sitting in the litter box for longer? Are they peeing right by the box or in new random places?

Also, it’s not uncommon for bunnies to go through little disputes and re-establishing relationship rules. I know that Jack could get bossy about the box and push Vivian out. Even if I got two boxes, if I placed them next to each other, he would still push her out. I had to put a litter box in an opposite corner at one point that with it being partly hidden so she Jack wouldn’t see her and bother her every single time she jumped in.

Well I thought at first that it was a uti bc it was just a wet spot here and there. But they both seem healthy and active like normal.

I did give them a box to play with and had to take it away bc someone peed on it. So maybe it is a relationship thing. If it is, will it resolve itself? Will she stop peeing on the carpet on her own? Is there something I can do to help speed up the process?
