I was wondering, if i can do this to my buns. The idea just came in my head.

My idea is will it fine if I gave my buns veggies everyday and only them have 1/4 cup of pellets for 2 hours only? I feed my buns pellets when they are out. Which they are out for 2 hrs. Then the pellets they don’t finish I put it in their cage. But I’m thinking if I can just put the pellets back in the bag. But my buns will still be getting unlimated hay and veggies every day. Is this a good idea or bad?

George, I wouldn’t put pellets back in the bag once they’ve eaten from the dish they are in. It’s not sanitary enough, especially if one turns out to be sick a day or two later and you’ve got some kind of germs inside the whole bag. If you stick with only 1/4 cup, then put them back into the cage if they don’t finish.

Bunnies, unlike dogs, graze throughout the day and deliberately leave food for themselves for later. It what keeps them so slim and healthy.

If you let them out everyday, it shouldn’t turn bad if you leave it out.
I do something similar though my buns have a lot more time out; they are free roam whenever I’m home, including overnight. I just leave any left over pellets in their bowl for the next day that they’re out though it’s very rare to have any leftovers. Once you start doing this, they will know that they only get pellets at a certain time and may eat more when they realize that, thus, not have much left over.
