Hey guys. So I am a little new to bonding and a little new to this forum too.

So I recently adopted a female spayed bunny. I also have a male neutered bunny too. I had obviously done tons of research before getting another rabbit and new a lot about bonding, but it is my first time. So today I had my first bonding session and I just wanted your input on how its going.

So I started out in a bathtub. So my male bunny starting off with the humping and I did let it happen. Then my female tried to hump a little but that didn’t last too long. Then things quieted down a little and they were sitting nose to nose. Then all of a sudden my female stared to groom my male. I couldn’t believe it and I was so happy. That went on for a little. Then my male tried to hump my female again but that did not last long. Then after that they were sitting nose to nose again and she stared grooming him again. He kept nudging his nose under hers. The bonding session went on for about 45 minutes (I know a little long) but I thought the session was going pretty good.

So I basically just want some of your inputs on it.

It is not too long as it sounds like a very positive start.

I would continue for about a week in the tub, then move to a neutral space – maybe put up an exercise pen in a neutral area and get in the pen with them and see how they behave.

That sounds really good! A great start.

Like Sarita, I would stick with the bathtub for another week and just make sure they’re ok. When you’re to the point where they’re boring, you can try another neutral space, like a hall or small room or a penned off area. I pretty much switched areas a couple times and increased the time in each area until they could go 4 hours or so without any scuffles.

WOW! What a lucky lucky starting session! Sounds like your buns are doing AWESOME together! Real potential in those two!

As Sarita and Elrohwen gave perfect advice, I’ll follow them with your bonding sessions. Feel free to post more with updates! I love hearing about bonding sessions with buns as I’ve done bonding of my own and find it very interesting.. and rewarding!

                Also, welcome to BB!
