So Simba is having some weird poos… And I don’t know whether he needs a vet visit or what —

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this??  They are not runny or diarrhea.  It’s almost like they just never clumped together.  I’m worried about him but his appetite is perfectly fine.  He’s been eating pellets, veggies, hay, and drinking lots of water.  (I know this since he’s been in bonding time with the bunnies now).   I cant seem to find anything else like this on-line.

It almost looks like wet pellets… I’m wondering if his gut flora is low due to the changes in general plus bonding… I would not stop the bonding but maybe some benebac or something to lift his gut flora and aid digestion.

Just not to confuse anyone — the food pellets are only because they were tossing the food dish everywhere in the bonding, LOL. I was wondering the same thing. I txted the lady who runs the rescue we are fostering-to-adopt from. She said to put some in the fridge and see if he still has them tomorrow. So I cleaned out the area they are being bonded in right now and see if he still has them in the morning. If so, she is going to schedule an appt for him to come in to the vets they use and check him and the poos. I know it’s him though since they were separated for some hours today and the others bun cage was full of normal ones while his had the same powdery, weird poos.

Is Benebac something you can get yourself or does it have to be given/provided by the vet?

Side note: I was also concerned about the stress of bonding. But yesterday and today are his BEST bonding days so far. He’s finally coming out of his shell and interacting with the other bunnies in a positive way instead of being nervous around them. His nerves about them are SOOO much better. So I was confused at why they would pop out now and not the first three weeks of bonding when he was REALLY stressed.

I’ve never seen poo’s like this – are they jagged like? Benebac won’t help – the truth about Benebac is that by the time the “good” flora in this reaches the rabbits cecum, it’s not viable anymore and the good flora in this is not what is actually found in a rabbit’s cecum. It won’t hurt, but it probably won’t help either.

They look very similar to the contents of Hodari’s litter box:

The litter I use is pelleted wheat straw. It swells up when wet and gets crumbly, just like wet food pellets do. And Hodari has red pee frequently, which causes the litter pellets to have a tint like what’s shown in your pic. Maybe Simba peed there???

Do you have any other pics of it?

Ditto. I think its either water or pee on pellets. Are you seeing this anywhere else or just here where the scattered pellets are?

Maybe he peed on some pellets? I feed Bindi his pellets wet and that`s exactly what it looks like.

I’m starting to think maybe that’s what happened. It was just odd it happened in two different spots (together with bonding and then in his separate cage). But I haven’t seen anymore. Last night they were all fed pellets in the condo since we are attempting to cement their bond completely now. And in their condo they have the bowls hooked to the side so it’s not possible for them to fling them around. So you guys are probably right since I haven’t seen anymore.

I think it is pee on pellets too. For some reason Charley used to occasionally pee on her pellets and it looked exactly like that. I thought something was wrong at first too cause she peed on some that were scattered like that, but then she actually peed in her food dish and it was obvious what it was.

Ahhhh, It is wet pellets… Just noticed in the first pic there are stray pellets all around under the poo. I suspect the little stinker has weed on a few of them.

Oy. Another non-bunny emergency, overprotective bunny momma. I always feel I’d rather be safe than sorry though. So I guess I’m sorry but I’m not really THAT sorry.

I’m also guilty of being an overprotective Bunny Mommy. Can’t help it. I just love them soooooo much
