My bunny Iris will be 8 months old near the end of the month. She has a litter box, where she does poo and normally always pees there. When she’s out of her cage, she does poo around my room which I know isn’t something that can always be helped, but recently when she’s been on my bed she poos a lot more than she used to. Plus, she’s started PEEING on my bed nearly every time she’s up there, even if only for minutes… It’s frustrating, having to change my blankets, sheets and everything like all the time. When she gets on my bed, I usually put her back on the ground, but she just keeps jumping back up, she loves being on my bed! hahah. I was wondering how I could train her to use her litter box more, or could just teach her not to pee on my bed? Once I get her spayed, will that help?

I’ve read that after spaying or neutering does help with litter habits most of the time!! I’m hoping after mine get neutered it does impove!! fingers crossed!!

Spaying can help with litter habits. Another thing to consider is while you cleaned up the pee/changed blankets she might still be able to smell it. Is it in the same spot? Have you treated the spot(s) she’s been peeing? I’ve used a vinegar/baking soda mix pretty successfully in getting out pee smells (I had a pee war with one of my cats).

It really depends on the bun. Some buns have great habits after being fixed while others take litter boxes as suggestions of where to potty.

Check the condition of the litter, is it too clean or too dirty? Do you clean messes immediately? Sometimes the longer you wait, the more the mess will multiple, even if it’s not because of smell.

When I got my first bunny he used to wee everytime he got up onto the sofa. He was 100% litter trained yet still did this. The only thing I found that worked was to wash the covers ( we have leather sofas and a fabric throw so this was relatively easy) and restrict his access to it. Eventually he just stopped doing it, I suspect getting him neutered helped as it reduces territorial marking and that’s possibly what it was.

Some bunnies will pee and poop on the slave’s bed to mark it as theirs. is your bun spayed at all? It can definitely help litter box habits. I have a girl bun that doesn’t do such things on my bed, but very bun is different.

Thank you all for the help! I’m hoping that once I’m able to get her spayed, that will help:s As for the smell, I wash the blanket and sheet, but I’m not really sure how to get rid of the smell from the mattress? Anyone know how to go about it? Also, a lot of the time, she pees when she’s jumping around on my bed (even while she’s binkying sometimes) so the pee is kind of flung different spots. Any idea why she does that?

I don`t know what it is with bunnies and pooping, peeing on their humans bed. This comes up often here on BB. I ditto, spaying will most likely help. I think until then, your best bet is to leave her off your bed. Or you could try putting a piece of newspaper and a litter box on your bed and trying to train her. She might use the box if it`s on the bed.

Mine had a beautiful day bed to play on when they were in the sunroom. Unfortunately it was the favourite spot to pee and poop. It went out in the last kerbside bulk waste collection.
