I’ve been busy latley and have saved up enough money to go on a big shoping spree. I am wanting to buy tiles to go on my wired cage, right now I have down a rug..but tiles will work better in my situation. Can anyone link me to a few toys and nice things to have in your habbitat?

        I already have;

        Hay rack

        Corner Litter box

        Heavy veggie bowl

        Water bottle

        Carpet

a few toys and other basic things..

Another thing is that I want to make a second half level in a cage simialr to this..http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=7769 Anyone know how to do it??

Hey there, I have a few suggestions!

I can’t remember what kind of bun bun you have — BUT I would suggest actually not buying one of those corner litter boxes and just going for a kitty litter box instead. I only say this because ALL my buns outgrew those litter boxes and my rabbits are only about 4 lbs apiece. Haha! Totally useless and I now have about 4 of them floating around the house not being used. My buns also used to take them and toss them on to the other level and knock it around like it was a toy because they were so light. The kitty ones are cheaper and much MUCH more useable.

For the carpet — make sure you buy a carpet that isn’t looped as the loops can catch onto their nails and yank a nail off! If you look really close at the carpeting you can tell if it’s looped or not. We went ahead and bought an indoor/outdoor carpeting because it’s waterproof and easy to clean up if they have an accident on it. We just spray vinegar on it and it looks like new!

A VERY easy and cheap way to make a second level would be to buy some wooden dowels from a hardware store and a piece of wood. Buy two dowels to go through the wire bars and then set the piece of wood on top of the dowels and BOOM, you have a level! This is how we made the levels in our bunny condo and they’re very sturdy and strong. We used our carpeting to cover the piece of wood for the buns to make it nicer.

I agree with Tanlover14 about the corner litter box… to small! Get a bigger cat one! Bunnies like it a lot better!

Maybe instead of buying stuff to go in the cage you buy a better cage like an xpen or NIC cubes for a condo! The cage you listed above is way to small for any rabbit. The minimum is a 2×4 foot cage. An xpen is only around $60!

I also have to agree with Mocha – you can even keep the cage you if you wanted and just circle an x-pen around it and leave the cage open so she has access inside and outside whenever she wants. It’s a much better idea!

Mats may be better on your buns hocks than tile.

Depending on the size of your bun it may be good to get a cat litter box. Although I do have both (one in her enclosure and one for when she is free range in our kitchen) and she has no problem with her corner one. If your bun is used to using the smaller corner box you may want to try the high back kitty litter boxes. Corner boxes have high backs and when you first switch to the regular cat litter box they can sometimes mis fire when they pee and you’ll find a small puddle right outside of the box, especially if they pee in the very corner.

I would also offer her a water bowl. Most rabbits prefer them and it allows them to drink easier.

Also maybe an inexpensive small dog or cat bed (if you dont think itd get chewed or shredded up).

Also a hidey house of some sort, even if its just a small cardboard box with doors cut into it,

This is a great website to order toys off of they are a little pricey http://www.bunnybytes.com/cgi-bin/start.cgi they do offer some discounts. You want to go with a bigger cat litterbox and you really don’t need a hay rack you can just put the hay in the litterbox rabbits love to eat hay and go to the bathroom at the same time. Are your parents letting you keep your bunny in your room? I have been wanting an update?

Jingles seems to do fine with the corner litter box, i will keep an eye out to make sure it suits his size, though. The carpet in his cage is not looped, so that’s a good thing. Thanks for the warning there.

Where do you buy the wood dowels?

As for my cage size, he’s getting a new one so that’ll be fixed shortly, sorry about no updates I’ ve been super busy. My horses have needed extra ground work, and at the same time I was dealing with a sudden death in te family. Jingles is doing really well, he loves his veggies and pellets, which is good. He really isnt interested in toys..other than the colored wood chews.

I got the wood dowels really cheap at Home Depot.
