I recently got a new rabbit, and I’m trying to find an experienced rabbit vet in my area. However, whenever I try to look up good rabbit vets, all the listings are for vets in the DFW area, or Corpus Christi, or other faraway places. I wouldn’t mind driving to the ends of the earth to keep my bunny healthy, but I’d prefer not to stress him out with long travel. Does anyone know of good rabbit vets near me?

Are you in the Waco area, there is a vet on the North Texas Rabbit Sanctuary website in Waco.

No, I’m more in the Tyler area. Waco is almost 3 hours away, sadly. Thanks though

I guess Waco is West Texas anyway…you would be closer to DFW but that is still 2 hours away….

True. I think there’s a rabbit vet in Whitehouse, so now it’s just a matter of finding out how experienced they are with rabbits. I know rabbit spay/neuter can be a delicate operation so I want to make sure it’s someone who has a lot of experience. I was hoping maybe someone personally knew a vet and could vouch for them.

According to Google, I’m about 3 and a half hours away.

                        Website: Hawkins Animal Clinic’s Website
                        24h Emergency: Yes

A friend said this about them: We LOVE Dr. Hobbs. She’s very knowledgable but also willing to admit when there is something she doesn’t know and will proceed to find out. Rabbits are not treated as second class citizens next to the dogs and cats. She is very good about taking as much time as is needed (3 hours on our last visit!) and answering questions thoroughly. She even accepts middle of the night phone calls graciously.
                        I hope that this helps

Hi! I was wondering if you were able to find a good rabbit vet in the Tyler area. I’ve recently moved and need to see a vet. Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks!

Another tip is to google “exotics vet” in your area. Not all vets list rabbits specifically, but many exotics vets see rabbits.
