So my bunny will flop when I’m with him one day and then binky when I shake my head at him in his cage and the next when I reach in to pet him he won’t let me and backs away. What gives? Is it because I washed my hands?

How old is he? How long have you had him? Is he neutered? (depending on age).

Non-altered bunnies can be more prone to mood swings. If it’s a new place he could still be adjusting. He might not like someone reaching into “his space”.

I have a bunny that binkies, hops and flops around me, etc.. But he hates it when I “try” to pet him. He comes to me when he wants pets.

He has been neutered since October. My room is cold so we had to move him out into the hallway because it has been like 12 degrees here. Hmmm. I think it’s cause I reached in to pet him. Or maybe he doesn’t like to be in the hallway.

I’ve had him since July. I think he is still learning how to trust me. No matter what I do he won’t let me pick him up, he runs and thumps sometimes or backs away rapidly. I don’t know I’m trying to do my best.

That’s all we can do with our bun friends, our best. It sounds like you’re doing fine and I hope I didn’t sound critical.

It could be that he’s adjusting to his move and getting comfortable in his new space.

I found this article really helpful when I was working with my shy buns:
                http://www.rabbitnetwork.org/articles/shy.shtml

I also found this website really helped me understand my bunnies:
                http://language.rabbitspeak.com/

I hope it helps! (Do you have any pics of him?)

There are plenty of bunnies that are comfortable with people, who enjoy interacting with their humans, but do not like to be touched. It’s not anything that you did…it’s really a personality thing, and there are plenty of bunnies that are wary of being petted. Just try to spend lots of time with him in ways that he is comfortable with, and let him approach you; though no-touchy bunnies will never quite be snuggle bunnies, most of them do relax with time.

Sometimes bunnies are just moody, too- yesterday morning Jane and Mac binkied like crazy for their breakfast and nudged me on the shins while I was feeding them, but today they didn’t even come out of their boxes till I was leaving. Maybe he just woke up on the wrong side of the bed
