My bunny just recently got attacked by a dog today. I got there in time to actually chase the dog away and my bunny was terrified. Ever since then, she’s been laying down constantly. She eats normally but she doesn’t drink a lot, she would drink out of my hand but not from the water bottle or bowl? I’m not sure if she’s still scared or if it’s signs of her having a broken back, leg, or etc? She seems to be hopping fine though.

When you say a dog, do you mean your dog? How did your rabbit get attacked by a dog? Was she actually bitten or just chased? If it were me, I would probably be worried enough to take my bun to the vet. You know, just to put my mind at ease that he is okay. Do you have a vet you take your rabbit to?

I second LBJ, have her checked over by a vet and bring her inside. If you have dogs in the area that can access your yard (jumping the fence or digging under it) and they can smell your bunny they will get in and it poses a threat to her.

Eek, poor bunny! A vet visit is definitely in order. Bunnies are very good at hiding their health problems, so they can be more sick or injured than they appear.

That’s scary. I really hope you’ve taken your bun to the vet. Bunnies can literally be terrified to death after a dog attack. It’s extremely traumatic for them. Please let us know how bunny is doing.

As little puffy tail writes, dogs can scare a rabbit to death without even touching it. When I was little my rabbit died that way, a dachshound outside her out-doors cage frightened her to death. The rabbits hearts stop from intense fear, they die right away.

Your rabbit will hopefully recover from this scare, hopefully she is only traumatized psychologically, but of course you must feel through her little body for injuries. It’s a very good thing she eats and drinks out of your hand. Rabbits are, as you know, very good at hiding injuries because showing injury means predators will try to catch you if you’re a rabbit.

I would get your rabbit to a vet immediately to check for any injuries.
