Basically, Apollo has this plastic ball, it’s intended for cats, but it’s safe for him to play with! It’s white, and has lots of holes in it.

Every time I  go to see him, it’s always pushed up the corner and he never seems to play with it. (His baby keys however, are a different story!) I cleaned him out today, and moved everything out, cleaned, then placed everything back in again. I put this white ball in the middle of his cage, and almost immediately, he ran over and pushed it up the corner. I moved it back again, jut to see what he’d do and he lunged towards it, grunting, and shoved it in the corner. Every time I rolled it towards him, he’d put his ears back, grunt and lunge en shove it out of the way (9 times out of 10, it’d go in this same corner.) He didn’t lunge at me, or my hand, just the ball. Why? It’s got me quite confused!

        Thanks everyone

Hi! I think he has a game for himself that is “push the ball into the right corner” and if you want him to play it, just keep moving the ball. If he is grunting, he may be annoyed at it’s being moved out of its place. He has decided that it should be in that corner, and it needs to learn to stay there. Bunnies are creatures of habit with preferences in their decor in their habitats. They are really funny that way, and if he says the ball is for that corner, then that’s that. He may enjoy playing roll the ball back with you, so go ahead and do it with him until he stops, turns his back, or gets obviously mad with more growling and ears laid back. Then it is no longer a game to him.
My bunny loves her keys also. If he wants the ball left alone, switch to playing with keys.
If he turns his back to you, you have been dismissed.

Lots of rabbits like balls and this particular one is easy for them to toss. It’s perfectly safe to let him play with this – it sounds like it gives him some mental stimulation and keeps him active.

Ah ok! Yes, we have a game with his baby keys, I hold them up in the air and he reaches up and bonks them with his nose, then gets a quick pet and the whole thing starts again. It a cute trick to show the family friends that come over! obviously, I have discovered a new trick with his plastic ball!
Yes, after a while, he gets grumpy and lunges at it, his ears back. I’ve never seen a bun with so much expression! And he does give me the bunny butt and turn his back on me after a while! Thank you so much

Can you shove some hay strands thru the holes in the ball? Maybe he’d like that?

Beka I could give that a try! They’re pretty big holes, but it might work! Thanks for the idea
