Hello. Charley is my first bunny, so I am relieved to find this forum where I can get advice and any needed answers. I am 27 y/o STAHM to a little boy in kindergarten (& engaged to his father). For the past year I had been considering adopting a pet for my son. He is very calm and gentle w/ animals. As an only child, I can see that he’s at that age where he would bond and do well w/ a companion pet. I never had a pet rabbit or knew of anyone who has. But I did a ton of reading and research on them beforehand….. I live in the country/south and many children in the area are involved in 4-H, rabbits are not hard to come by around here. Fast foward….. On Christmas eve I came across Charley & his litter mates at a local feed store. I believe there were about 6 of them. The first one I saw looked like a rex, so I assumed that’s what they possibly were. Charley’s ears weren’t quite a long as some of the others and he was the only one w/ any blue. The young clerk at the store didn’t really know anything about them. I asked him how old they were and what their breed was. He said he honestly didn’t know but he thought they were mini rex and probably around 2 months old…Charley was extremely tiny. Underneath all that fur he was pretty boney. He did not understand how to use the water bottle. I searched rabbit kits online to find out if charley looked like a typical mini rex who was about 2 months old. I quickly realized Charley was no where near 8 weeks. He may have been 5 weeks, if that. I also think Charley may be a mix breed, possibly something w/ polish. He has huge top eyelashes and such big whiskers that they’d put a sea lion to shame. ( I may start a thread about what breed(s) he could be after he grows some more. )Anyways, Charley is my new baby. We all love him so much. He is very sweet & curious. I think he is just now about 7 or 8 weeks old, maybe (it’s so hard for me to tell, having no experience w/ rabbits or kits and not being completely sure what breed he even is). He loves to jump and climb into my lap to cuddle and lick. He loves to run, binky and play. He knows his name and will come when called. He also will do a binky & quick circle if I say “Charley, Binky Binky!”. In the past 2 weeks that I’ve had him he has doubled/ tripled in size. His fur is looking much more dense and evened out. He enjoys the occasional nap and alone time in his hide out, but doesn’t appear fearful of anybody. He is already using his litter box 90% of the time (10 % he prefers the corner directly across from it as well lol). I am hoping that he stays good natured and doesn’t turn aggressive w/ puberty. I do plan on having him neutured.

I am sure I will have plenty of questions coming up and thank all of you in advance   Here are some pictures of Charley. They are from last week – he has grown since. He also appears much larger in the pictures than reality lol

Oh he is adorable! He reminds me of the kits my rabbit, Fluffy, had when I was 5! She was an English lop (about 15 lbs!) that bred through the cage with my mom’s Mini rex…lol! The coloring is very similar to the baby that I wanted to keep! And welcome! I’m new to the forum as well…in the process of adopting a rabbit after years of not having one. It’s very exciting! The members here are fantastic and very knowledgeable!
