My bun Oliver has a terrible biting problem! He has plenty of sticks and toys to chew on (which he uses often) but he just loves biting me. It used to be little baby bunny nibbles, but now that he’s almost 1yr. old his bites are hard and often break the skin. He digs on me when I’m holding him too, I have MANYY shirts/sweatshirts etc that have been ruined because of his digging and biting habbits His biting and digging occur 99% of the time when I’m holding him. Besides on me, I haven’t seen him dig very much anywhere in the house or in his condo. HELP!

Hes telling you he doesnt like it when u pick him up. bunnies often hate being picked up and held. ours dont, so we just sit next to them, theyre much happier with this arrangement
bunnies love digging but in this instance id say hes communicating to you his dislike at being held

He loves being held. He licks me like crazy and has his head down for petting when he’s on my lap most of the time, but when he’s in his biting and digging moods..he really goes to town. He’s very easy to pick up and handle usually and loves to cuddle! He will be licking me, then just start nipping. I guess it’s hard for me to understand that he doesn’t want to be held when he usually is so content. Maybe he does like it, but only to a certain point?

One way to test if he likes sitting in your lap is to sit criss cross in an X-pen without touching him and see if he sits by himself on your lap. If he does, then I don’t know whats wrong. But if he doesn’t, then probably he doesn’t like being held and you need to accept that about him. Hope this helps!

I assume you have tried squealing when he does it to let him know he is hurting you?

Which bunny are we talking about here? The little one or the lop in your avatar? We had a huge issue with Leopold biting. He’s a Holland and he is deaf. So he would bite when he wanted attention and when he wanted you to stop doing something. Problem was, he never learned to adjust how hard he was biting because he can’t hear if you squeal at him.

The lop in my avatar is Ollie I have tried the squealing, and that hasn’t helped. He has a vet appointment coming up at the end of January, I’ll have to ask about that, very interesting. Thanks everyone for your input

I was just going to ask that LPT

before Nate was neutered, he would bite me to “hold me still” while he tried to hump me. Nothing I did to make him stop worked, but after his hormones died down he stopped doing it.

Yes he’s been neutered for at least 3 months now, he’s honestly been getting a lot better, but when he does start, it’s like he’s on a mission. Maybe I just need to accept the fact that he can’t be cuddly all the time
