Hello All! I look forward to getting to know everyone. I am a 20-something second time bunny owner, and I decided joining a forum this time around would be good fun and helpful! My first set of bunnies, I had in college, and they were a mini lop and a holland lop. At about age 6, one got an upper respiratory infection and despite treatment succumbed to the illness . Shortly afterward, the other bunny died. I could never find the cause, but in my opinion, she died of a broken bunny heart. They were both litter trained and were wonderful babies  They used to come running when I would open the fridge to see if I had some yummies in there for them

Fast forward to today, and I just acquired a 4 month old lop. It looks like a male to me. I don’t know much about him other than he probably comes from pet stock. I hope to get him into my vet next week. I dug the old cage out, but decided this new bunny should get his own. I purchased a prevue metal cage but plan to let him be free roaming like my last two, eventually. They had a cage but only returned for pottying, eating, and night time sleeping. I look forward to sharing our journey with you all. I am also considering getting him a bunny friend as my last ones enjoyed each other very much and never struggled with being a friend to me even though they were bonded. What do you think? Here is a pic of the little lad!

I’ll have to post a pic when I’m not on my phone, but she/he looks just like my Gretel. Like almost exact, just younger. Super cute

I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOUR GRETEL!!! Charlie Bunny and I are getting to know each other now and he’s really not sure about me just yet. He had a bit of a rough start and was beaten and bitten by other rabbits. He is now relaxing with me living the high life as a house bunny  He is getting neutered in less than two weeks though, so I do feel a bit guilty  I know in the long run we’ll be better off together for it!

Welcome to BB! He’s adorable. Does he have any Dutch in him? His markings looks very Dutch rabbit.

                  This is Gretel.

I wish I had better pics other than crappy cell phone ones. Gretel has more white but they look really, really similar. I think someone had mentioned that they might be Vienna markings instead of Dutch because of the blue eyes? I might be wrong, I’ll have to go look at some old posts. Either way they are adorable buns!

She does look quite a bit like him! They could be siblings!

It is possible he has dutch in him but I don’t think he is supposed to have any. His siblings were all booted mini lops.

Did a little reading and I think he may be Vienna marked as he has light eyes that appear bluish grey and sadly do not photograph well. It would make much more sense than a dutch sneaking into his family tree, as the people seemed pretty certain that wasn’t possible.

I got a decent picture of his eye color so you can see the blue eyes he gets from the vienna gene! This makes sense since his lineage as a purebred mini lop is fairly certain.
