WE found a Lionhead bunny Christmas 2012 wandering in the neighborhood.  After about 6 months we noticed scabs on his mouth.  After researching on line, the most obvious thing seemed Vent Disease.  We took him to the vet who agreed on the diagnosis and prescribed 3 doses Penicillin x 3 weeks.  It didn’t go away.  She prescribed 2  more doses. We did not notice any scabs for approx. a week.  Then they came back.  We purchases Pen G online and have been giving it subcu x 4 more weeks.  Same scabs..What else can we do?  We did not plan on having a rabbit, God just gave him to us and we are still in a steep learning curve.  Any advice appreciated.

Hi Pat, it is my understanding that is what is used to treat rabbit Vent Disease as well.

You may want to email Dana Krempel’s and see if she may have any advice for you as well – here is a link to email her:

There is a link in purple at the top “Ask A Question” that you can email her your situation and see if she has some advice on this.

Bunnytowne had issues with this. Perhaps she will see this thread and chime in.
