I thought it would be fun to talk about the weird or quirky behavior of our buns, the things they do or like that seem weird to us or buns in general.

When we have the space heater on to warm things up enough for us, Foo who by nature should prefer things chillier will lay right up against it, close enough for us to warn her that she may get burned.

I would assume that since we use bunny burritos to medicate them, clip nails, etc she would hate being wrapped up in her blankie, but as evidenced by pictures, Foo loves being snuggled in her blankie.

Last one I can think of right now. She loves having her belly rubbed and will flop if Daddy does so. only for Daddy, though, not me.

Cant wait to here everyone elses!

Hee! I love the pics of Foo-in-a-blanket!

Nibs also likes a little heat from time to time and will sit next to the floor register, fur blowing in the (warm) breeze.

We have a very heavy cast iron piggy bank on the floor and every rabbit we’ve owned likes to lay next to Mr. Piggy. I think he’s telling them to buy cutlery. Or how to use our credit cards and the Internet to buy…I’m not sure what. Hmmm….time to check the bank statement…

There’s a small, round table in the corner with a triangular gap between it and the corner itself. Nibs likes to go under the table and launch himself upwards. He’s looking for the “Magic Bunny Room” that surely must await there.

He’s never met a shelf he didn’t want to jump up on/into. And if items need to be shoved off to make room for a bunny, well. He loves his Cottontail Cottage, but shelves are so alluring…

My bunnies know which bin their pellets are kept in. Whenever I open the bin, they chase each other in circles for a minute and then run back into their x-pen and wait for me to put the pellets into the bowls. Its pretty adorable!

              Haha. I love it.
Usually when I get home I change into these Capri length sweats. So most of the time I play with Dexter my legs are relatively bare. Now if I wear jeans or long pants to play with him he gets so confused and will sniff my legs obsessively and try to dig at my pant legs.

If we bring a glass of water or a water bottle into the room with us it becomes Dexter’s mission to tip it over. If you stand it up he’ll come right back and do it again. He also likes to stick his head in the overturned glass.

              He always has us laughing.

In my old apartment, I had a long hallway from my living room to my bedroom. For years, I never let them in my bedroom. I started to leave the door ajar and in the morning, I would let Cheddy and Poopy out of their cage and Cheddy would bolt down the hallway to my bedroom and push the door open with his big head to go in with Poopy right behind him. Sometimes I would just catch him sitting next to the door if it was closed and I would point at him and say no. He would binky away like it gives him pleasure to know that he’s being bad.

When Cheddy is hungry on days that I sleep in, he flips the metal pellet dish up and down, up and down to make noise. It always wakes me up to feed them, so he’s got something going there.

Also, anything I place on the floor, Cheddy has to knock over immediately.

                  Hmmmm, weird Bunny Quirks!

                  I love this one.

So my boy Fleury is OBSESSED with chocolate. Anything chocolate. If I have chocolate in my mouth and he gets a wiff he won’t leave me alone and will climb all over me attempting to get to it.

Another thing all three of my buns will do is they will flop themselves on the ground and then roll over! Literally… roll over. Does anyone elses buns do this?!??

When I get home, Foo will run over to me (if she isnt sitting at the bedroom door waiting) and run around my feet a couple times then stand up until I pet her. If I walk past her she’ll follow me until I pay attention to her.

She also seems to like going places. She’ll lounge in her carrier if its on the floor and is always happy to get in it. I think she thinks car rides lead to more atttention than normal.

Not willingly….  Occasionally, Nibs’ll do a big drama queen flop on the couch and he rolls over onto his back and flails his feet in the air until he can jump back to his feet or do a complete roll-over.  This is immediately followed by jumping to his feet with a startled, “What was that??!?” look on his face.  Definitely not something he does on purpose, lol!

Tanlover, my rabbits all roll too Toshi does it the most, Paige will do it often, but then sit up, and Joshua will do it about once a month. Toshi has been doing that since we first met him and he sleeps like that. What is truly spectacular is when a larger rabbit does it, a rabbit at my shelter is ten pounds, and when rolls it sounds like someone dropped a ton of bricks.

Once when Toshi was very little he rolled all the way over and slept on his back. He was very content, but he has never done that again.

An odd quirk of Paige is her dislike of peppers. Our other rabbits will eat them happily, but when you hand her one she turns her nose up at it!

Tait LOVVESSS getting into trouble. The one good thing about it, is that he likes being caught, so I can trust him not to do anything when I’m gone The worst time was when I was moving my ancient tv. I had everything unplugged and the cord laying down on the ground (for the first time ever). Tait immediately ran up to it, looked at me, as I was like “DON’T YOU DARE”, he took a nice big chomp and ran away binkying like a maniac. How can you tell I am not an animal abuser? All my animals think it’s a fun game to make mom mad .

Nate, my deaf bun, thinks the vacuum is like the coolest thing in the world. I don’t know if he thinks he’s in a club, with all the vibrations or what… But I have to actively not suck him up because he’s right in there, always infront of it. On the other hand Tait is terrified of it. After I’m done, Nate always goes and cuddles around Tait to calm him down. It’s pretty cute, but theres no way he will leave the precious vacuum to comfort Tait during the vacuuming

Tanlover my bunny rolls over for belly rubs! I have only had him about 36 hours but he seems to have taken a strong bond towards me lol he likes belly rubs already. Since I haven’t had him long I don’t know much about him yet but he also loves our ac vent… I guess the metal is cool so he lays spread out over the vent. He also tries to get to the highest point in the room constantly climbing things. He’ll jump on the couch and then up on the back rest and on your shoulders. If you’re sitting on the floor he’ll climb in my lap and then try and climb to my shoulders lol he just seems to really like climbing. When he is in his cage he’ll even climb up the wall of his cage to the roof! I tell him he is very talented all the time

Doc, my black fuzzy lion head loves to play, what I think, is a game. If I scramble my fingers in a “spider” manner on the floor he likes to chase my hands, and I mean full on bunny sprint ears back and everything and as soon as he catches up to one, he proceeds to lick my entire hand and he would continue to lick my hand for hours if I let him.

He also likes to flop against a wall or something hard and then roll into a laying position and he’ll fall asleep contently there.

He loves to chase me if I start running around the room.. And when he catches up to me, he’ll lick my leg.

Also, I think his back feet might be ticklish. Anytime you get a hold of one of them somehow he freaks out a little bit and then comes back and flops on his back for more. With an occasional belly rubbin’.

here he is, snuggled up in bed next to me.

this is the first night i got him

My belt around my jeans was loose since I was going to change. Enzo pulled it out with his teeth and ran away with it! I thought it was hilarious!

I put boxes under my bed so that he will not go under. He tries to bite them out. When he notices that a small tug is not working, he starts digging the ground around it (on a wood floor haha), thinking that it will make it easier to come out, and tries again!

He knows he is not supposed to go into my mother’s room. If she leaves the door open and i notice before he goes in (when he is by the doorway) he looks at me then runs in! he goes under her bed, poops, then runs out!

Usually when he is free to run downstairs, I close all of the bedroom doors upstairs so that he will not go in while I am downstairs. He hates this. He runs up the stairs, notices all the doors are closed, and stomps real loud!

                                    These are all so cute!

I’ve noticed that when I’m gone all day, Mimzy just sleeps. But once I come home, she is awake and runs downstairs of her condo to greet me. She does circles around my legs.

She also knows when it’s dinner time soon as I start to put my bird to bed, she will run in a few circles & then run up to her top level before I can even put the pellets in her bowl.

I have to get low to the ground to sweep out her first level of the condo, which makes my back level with her second level, she started using me as a step ladder whenever I would be sweeping. Now she literally will wait at the edge of the second level staring at me until I crouch down as a “step ladder” xD Silly bun, such a princess
Also, I think she purposely tries to be noisy and annoying in the morning just to wake me up. And when I start to leave my room, she will drop whatever she is doing and run to the door while I’m leaving

Mimzy, that is so cute! Enzo does the same thing! He can be enjoying a good toy or meal, but as soon as he sees me walking toward the door, he runs toward me!

Foo does something similar. When she sees me putting on my shoes to go to work or class she’l run ovet and start digging at my feet, like she thinks if sje destroys them I wont go.

One thing I’ve noticed with Belle is that she really likes crisps! (or chips for people outside the UK). She’s never had one obviously but every time I’m eating them she sticks her head in the bag and tries to get one!! I have to be on bun alert if I’m eating them !

LOL My bunny does this all the time! Willow isn’t allowed in our bedroom because she just loves the wires for our sleep number bed And anyways, she will run down the hall if my husband or I are even so much as heading in that direction and then just sit outside the bedroom door. If we try to go in she’ll try too. If we turn to her and say no, she’ll happy hop and few steps back and then try dashing for the door!

She’ll also sit out the door when she knows we’re in the bedroom.

Other funny things she does is:

                                            1) She knows where her food comes from. If I head to the fridge, she’ll ecstatically bounce over and start begging for food!

                                            2) When we first got her, she had to get used to our wood floors. Originally she’d run down the hall, slide and go into the wall. Now she runs zig-zagged to control her speed and turns the corner like a pro.

                                            3) She also sits in front of the return vent in the hall, enjoying the breeze.

I do love how whenever she gets in trouble, she flicks her feet at me and then hops away happily like she likes being a bad bunny.

The funnies thing she ever did though was when she shunned us. We were at home cleaning all day and so we didn’t spend much time with her. She was really annoyed that evening when we went to see her. I thought something was wrong with her because she wouldn’t respond to a treat. But then, if we walked away she’d eat her treat. After that, she’d go in her cage and every time we’d come over, she’d turn away from us and flop on her back. Not her usual, I’m so happy come and stroke me flop. This was definitely a “I am so happy without you, see??” flop. She would also push her bedding around angrily like we put it in there wrong. Being shunned by our rabbit was definitely a funny experience.
