So I’ve been thinking, yes sometimes that can be dangerous, but anyways, I feed my rabbit pellets. Of course, like almost everybody else. My pellets are alfalfa, I think. It’s just the pellets the lady that I bought my bunny from gave us. It doesn’t really say what they are, but I’m pretty sure they’re alfalfa. (We get the bag at the co-op) So pellets are very processed, but what if you gave alfalfa cubes instead. They are less processed and don’t have all that harmful dust. It would be cheaper since we have to buy cubes anyway. Couldn’t I just give less pellets and some alfalfa cubes? Just wondering…

Well pellets should be the smallest amount of her diet anyway. Do you give her unlimited grass hay and fresh greens/veggies daily? How much pellets do you actually feed her?

Yes unlimited hay, veggies, etc. And about a cup of pellets will do her for one day.

That’s quite a bit of pellets. She looks like a small rabbit – how much does she weigh?

About 4 and a half. Is that big or too skinny? She gets a bunch of exercise, so she never really puts a lot of weight on

No that’s not too skinny for a Dutch. However I would start slowly decreasing her pellets to 1/4 to 1/2 cup – she sounds like she’s got a pretty high metabolism and can probably eat a bit more pellets. House Rabbit Society suggests 1/4 to 1/2 cup based on her age/size/metabolism.

Okay good! I’m glad she’s not under weight! I would have felt so bad!

She looks the perfect weight to me. Dutch rabbits usually range from 4 to 6 pounds so she sounds like a healthy weight to me. They are small rabbits.

I have had a rabbit (New Zealand White) named Maxine that was 13 pounds. There are some larger breed rabbits out there.
