Hi everyone! I have just got my first bun, a 9 week old mini lop. He doesn’t like to be held or picked up but will occasionally come over for a stroke. He has nibbled myfingers and does flop an awful lot, both in and out of his cage. I have had problems getting him to play however, I have tried little balls, toilet rolls both with and without hay inside, boxes with shredded paper and toilet paper to shred. He isn’t interested in anything I’ve tried and seems to just sleep and flop a lot. Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum! Most bunnies actually don’t like being picked up very much, but many love being cuddled and petted with all 4 feet on the ground. If he doesn’t seem to be too interested in toys I wouldn’t worry about it as long as he is happy (which he seems to be). Sometimes bunnies will ignore an item for months, then one day decide that it’s the most interesting thing in the world. Silly little critters…

You can lead a bun to toys, but you can’t make them play…

Some buns play with anything and everything, some don’t. Some take time to warm up to objects. He sounds content. I wouldn’t worry.

I agree. Some bunnies love toys, some bunnies just don’t “get” toys.

How long have you had your bun? He may start playing more when he feels more relaxed in his new place.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies!
We’ve only had him 3 nights so I’m thinking if we give him more time he’ll soon settle!

He’s already getting more confident and has been asking to be petted as well as licking and nibbling me.

Definitely let him settle in I have the experience of a baby bunny and boy, do they adjust. All are quite different and have different personalities! My baby bun was scared of me at first (She is in my signature photos) and as she got older, her true personality comes out 🙂
