Just got back from the vet this morning. Uhh….don’t be surprised if I am killed in my sleep tonite. LOL She is NOT happy and got fiesty with the vet. She gave the death glare to everyone and actually started digging at her towel in the carrier. Normally she just hunkers down or makes me hold her. lol How bad is that I am very pleased with her behavior? LOL Means she’s not bad off.

The short of it is – she scratched her eye. So I am to apply a warm compress every day and I have some antibiotic to apply.

The long of it is – The dye didn’t drain through her nose which would’ve meant that her tear duct was fine. So I take her back next week. If nothing has changed, they will need to sedate her to flush the duct and check her teeth. The vet said they would only sedate, not completely put out. So…..that is good right? I mean, sedation is better than full anesthesia, right? Just worried about that now since rabbits don’t do well with anesthesia. lol

She is already fed up with this eye business, so treating her this week is gonna be fun. I love bunnies! LOL

I like sedation over full anesthesia, and my vet prefers not to go that far either if she can preform certain procedures with a milder sedation, so I think you are in good hands. Sorry the duct is blocked. I agree with you about being pleased at her feistiness. It will be a week of getting close (so get some neosporin for your scratches) but it’s good that you are having her treated thoroughly. In the long run, it will be better for both of you.

Good to hear it. Hopefully the treatment helps clear it on its own.

If you do have to have the flushing done, why not get them to give her a mani/pedi while sedated? It’ll save you having to do it and suffering her wrath.

Jersey – Thank you for the mani/pedi suggestion!  I can get her back nails just fine but the front ones are difficult to do on my own.  My dad is afraid of holding her cause he doesn’t want to hurt her.  Which is cute, but doesn’t help me.  LOL   Eventually I clip them all but it takes a while and she starts getting her feisty on.  But I don’t like stress her out by forcing a car trip on her JUST to get her nails clipped, so while we’re in there next time, I’ll get them done.  Plus I didn’t know what was going on with her or, more importantly, how much it was going to cost.  lol  Not to mention she probably would’ve taken the tech out today.

Hopefully this isn’t too bad, but I decided since she was sooooooooooooooo ticked off at the vet’s (and still is), I will be starting the ointment and warm compresses tomorrow.  Cause I have to apply the ointment twice a day.  Obviously I am not looking forward to this. And being the mean mommy I am, I took a picture of her in her carrier this morning at the vet’s.  LOL

I love the shape of the rex head; so pretty.

You mightn’t like me saying(and neither will Lolli :p)
but I would start with ointment/compress sooner rather then later. I do understand your thinking though. Been there many times!
It’s just eye injuries can turn worse quickly. Also Lolli might surprise you and behave as the treatment could feel nice. Especially the compress.

If she doesn’t like it, well then she’s got all of the night to be left alone afterward.

                Just my 2 cents

Aww, I feel like I haven’t seen a picture of Lolli in a while! What a pretty girl .

I agree with jersey in that it might be a better idea to start the treatment sooner if you already have the materials on hand…getting started a day earlier might improve the chances that things will be better by next week, saving you both a trip to the vet. Hopefully a couple of extra treats afterwards will placate her!

Oh, my….that is the death look perfected…. What a little Diva. Just tell her how lucky she is. Does she know how many times Mr. Bindi has been to the vet?

                    ((((Healing Eye Vibes)))))

Me too, Peppy. Need more pics of Lolli. Nice ones, though….no more death glare. That pic will haunt me as I sleep tonight.

Here’s thing though – Lolli DOESN’T take nice pictures. She ALWAYS looks pissy in them so I don’t bother to post them. Besides, it’s very difficult to get good pictures of black rabbits. lol But if you are REALLY sure you can handle the Death Glare, I will start stalking her like a paparazzi. LOL

Her eye is better. Well…it was better. It stopped weeping Sunday/Monday. When I got home tonite and got her to snuggle, it looked a bit irritated. I apply the ointment 2x a day like I’m supposed to and have been doing the warm compresses too. So…I am anticipating the flush having to be done. I just have a feeling that it’ll have to be done cause bunnies just can’t have a simple thing wrong, ya know? lol

Yup, I know all about that!

                        More ((((Eye Healing Vibes))))))

I think I can handle her death glare, I do have a diva of my own, after all.
