I was cleaning my bunny’s condo and found a odd white piece of what i thought was plastic. Then when i went to feed her a piece of dried banana, he nibbled on it and didn’t actually chew any of it off. So i checked his teeth and realize one of this top tooth is missing.

My bunny always had kind of odd teeth, his top teeth, one is bigger and slightly over laps the other one(which is half the size of a normal tooth). Now it seems the big one has fallen off. I don’t see any remainder of the tooth just gums, so can’t tell if it broke off or it fell off.

He is still eating regularly, eating his veggies and pellets, drinking water, napping, pooping He can’t seem to eat baby carrots without me chopping it up for him.

Should i be concern? Will the tooth grow back?

It could be a concern if it becomes infected – best to have a vet take a look at it.

Oh my! Well if the root is still there then the tooth will probably grow back. I would have a vet take a look at it though. Like Sarita said, it could become infected.
Is you vet aware that he has crooked teeth? You might want to seek their recommendations on that. He may need to have his teeth trimmed.

Oh no, poor bunny! Bunny teeth do grow back, but this is a definite cause for concern with possibility of infection and recurrent tooth problems. Do definitely try to see a vet about it.

Yikes! That’s definitely a trip to the vet.

However you if he’s eating and drinking and pooping normally and not appearing to be in pain you could likely wait until your vet is back in the office on Thursday or Friday.

An emergency vet trip would be warranted should your bunny exhibit signs of pain (hiding, grinding teeth, haunching up or generally acting ‘off’) or if he stops eating/pooping.

My regular vet is out till after new years. So i’m hoping to be able to delay till she comes back from vacation.

On a good note, Ore (my bunny) doesn’t seem t be affected by the missing tooth and is still happily eating. I changed his literbox this morning to make sure he is still pooping and when i got home there is new poop in there. He also ate all his pellets and most of last night’s veggies. He normally eats all of them by the morning, but maybe the collard greens are a bit tough on his little tooth. I replaced it with some cilantro, shredded lettuce, and chopped up carrots. I might slice up a piece of apple for him to make sure he is eating enough. I’m really afraid that he would get sick from not eating enough.

He seems okay tho, so hopefully we can hold out till the vet gets back. There’s not many bunny savvy vets around here.

Awww….Oreo is so cute. I’m glad he is not in pain from the tooth. Hope you can get him in for a check-up as soon as your vet gets back.
