        Hi Everyone,

My name is Michele. Me and boyfriend just adopted 2 bunnies from our local shelter. Guinness (female) is the black one and Harp (male) is the white one.The information we got from the shelter is that they were left in a box on the side of the highway with 6 other bunnies and when they were brought in they were covered all over with their own feces and their ears were so infested with mites that they were crusty and bleeding. They were at the shelter for about a month before we adopted them, so they were fixed and their ears were cleared of any signs of mites however Since Harp is white he’s feet were completely stained green and brown. I figured since they had gone through such a horrible ordeal it would take them months to come around. But to my surprise the morning after we brought them home while I was trying to sneak more hay into their cage without scaring them Guinness came running up to the door and put both her paws on my shoulder to push me out of the way and go exploring our bedroom. At first I thought she was just trying to get away but she kept touching my hand with her nose and pushing on it so I figured she couldn’t be that scared of me and I let her out to explore, by the end of the day both bunnies were running around and doing binkies. They are still not comfortable being held but Guinness loves to be pet. Harp is getting more used to being pet as the days go by. I found that he feels more comfortable if I am face to face with him and just nuzzle him like Guinness would do instead of using my hands to pet him. They like to take afternoon naps under our bed instead of in their cage.

            Welcome : )

Good for you for adopting! Have you had rabbits before? You seem to understand them. They’ve found a good home.

Awww, such an adorable little story of how these buns were so uncared for but came to be in a great home! They seem extremely happy to finally be in a good forever home! And I’m really glad they came around for you so fast! Even buns who come from great homes can be so skittish at first!

Welcome to BB! And I also can’t wait to see more pics of these cuties!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I’m very glad I found this site, these are my first bunnies and although I did try to read up on them as much as possible there’s still a lot I’m learning.

Hi, Michele and welcome to BB.

Your bunnies are beautiful. I like their names too. How sad that someone could just abandon helpless bunnies. Thanks for taking them in.

Binky Bunny is a great place for first time bunny owners. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

This was the first place I came when I got my first bun back in April, so I completely understand! I learned sooo much just from following forums and asking questions on this site — it’s a great place for sure!
