okay so Buffy has been shedding for the longest time ever. She has been shedding for 2 months, and it’s the first time I have seen her shed once since I got her only in May .

Every time i run my hands through her body , there’s always fur, fur fur!!! It’s so annoying because I don’t even know if that’s what you call “Shedding” or is it normal that bunns lose some fur during the day?? she loses that fur around the tooshie area (; . I try to groom her once a week but sometimes I don’t have enough time and i just forget. i do pluck the fur out with my hands but still…

Is there any tools I can use to get that fur out? I use a dog grooming MIT ( which doesn’t even get fur out, I use A human Hair comb which works OKAY but not even good, lol. And I also use my hands… I feel as if I’m a terrible pet owner for not having the right materials :'(. and also is it okay for bunnies to lost fur during the day or is that defined as SHEDDING?

Sounds like my Bindi Loo. He has pretty long fur and he often sheds small amounts and then goes through a huge molt several times a year. This is occurring right now and he’s actually got bald spots all over, poor guy.

I use a small slicker brush (brush with wire bristles). The one I use is “Lil Pal’s” and is made for puppies and toy breed dogs. Works well on his thick, long hair. These brushes can be pretty harsh, though, so care must be taken when buns’ fur is thinner from shedding. After the slicker, I use the wet hands trick. This works amazing on any type of fur. I’ve sort of come up with a gentle plucking method I use with wet hands that works really well. He’s not a fan but it gets loose clumps out, especially near his tail.

Some bunnies’ are always shedding a little bit. My Mini-Rex for example. Some other buns will not shed at all until they molt. My Olivia, who has short, satiny fur is like this. So it really depends on the bunny.

During molting, it’s important to groom every day since whatever you are getting off could potentially end up in their belly during their own grooming. During non-shedding, I groom every other day.

Yeah, shedding is pretty annoying. There’s not much you can do but try different brushes (I find that different ones work better for each of my buns, but the slicker brush works ok for both) and keep brushing.
