My boyfriend’s mom has watched Lola before so she knows her…but since her GI Stasis episodes I’m really worried this time. We will be gone for about 10 days for Christmas so I want to make sure I have everything down because it’s hard to gauge her when you put her in a different environment (she’s really only herself when she is romping around “her” territory aka our apartment). I also wanted to give them an easy to read “safe/toxic” common food list.
Please let me know what you all think!

Lola’s Instruction Manual:
Breakfast:
1 large handful of greens
¼ cup bunny pellets
Unlimited hay and water
Dinner:
1 large handful of greens
No bunny pellets
Unlimited hay and water
Treats:
She’s a fatty and would eat a whole apple if you let her. We let her have about 3-4 small treats a day (a bite of the apple we are eating, a slice of banana, one of her cracker treats, etc.). It’s hard to cut her off when she starts licking your face and looking at you with those cute eyes… which is why she is extra fluffy.
Potty Box and Hay:
Her box usually only needs emptied and filled with new Carefresh every other day at the earliest – usually every 3ish days. We keep a bunch of hay in it at one end at all times – she will eat a lot of hay every day.
Toys:
Saying she is obsessed with her big tennis ball is currently the understatement of the century – she is completely in love with that thing. She also loves her mason jar ring rattle but if you don’t take it out during the night she will keep you up all night clanging and playing with it. If you use up any paper towels or toilet paper, she loves to toss around the rolls and will play with them. She will also play with cardboard boxes if you take all the tape off of them.
Medicine:
Usually the test of her not feeling well is refusing to eat a piece of banana or apple. She isn’t shedding much right now so this shouldn’t be a problem – but if the M&M’s start looking like pearl necklaces she may have a tummy full of hair…
If you notice she is listless and uncomfortable looking (she’ll flop on her side and then get up and circle and flop again over and over) and not eating very much or pooping she can have Simethicone – 1mL every hour for the first 3 hours and then 1mL every 3-8 hours after that. It should work really quickly. If she still hasn’t eaten or pooped in about 8ish hours, please call Michael or me and she can probably have 0.7mL Metoclopramide – she loves this stuff and should be begging for it from the syringe. If she hasn’t eaten or used the bathroom for 12+ hours she probably has G.I. Stasis again and needs to go to a vet ASAP.
Thanks so much for watching her!
