So I’ve been dealing with a poop war with my recently bonded buns. I know that is to be expected but I’m concerned now because it’s getting to the point where they are marking with urine and I’m cleaning up several times a day. I need some advice.

So the poop wars started a few weeks ago. Then this weekend it got worse:

We cleaned this up real good. Got rid of Bunji’s old companion sheep, moved the tunnel got rid of the shredded mess and cleaned up the poop to find pee markings. Sprayed those down with water/vinegar solutions. Well since then we have woken up to a similar situation (maybe not as much poop as this pic but a lot).

Yesterday I decided it might be the wall they are fighting over so I built a nic cube barrier about a foot away. And today I woke up to more pee than the day before.

My buns have never had pee accidents. But we’re up so high I can’t even count. It started with one of them marking bunjamin’s old cage with a huge puddle of pee. So we took his cage down and this is resuming where his cage used to be.

I’m going to lose it if this doesn’t stop. Suggestions please!

Geez. That’s a of poop. Do you have a litter box outside for them to go? You may need several.

BTW, I had to send your picture to my bf because buns and I moved into his place almost two weeks ago and Poopy is definitely marking her territory with poops and cecals. That’s how she got her nickname. My bf is disgusted at her poops but she doesn’t leave nearly the amount of poop that you have going on there. Good luck!

They have two in their room. One in cage and the other right to the right of that picture. We’re going to put a third in there tomorrow near that wall to see if it helps.

I’ve been having a bunch of poop marking here too, mostly i am guessing because Monkey is a grump, and smells Kaylee in the other room. SO Monkey ahs become a little pez dispenser… heh. Not sure what to offer as help, as I myself seem to need some.

All I can say is good luck. Mine have been bonded a long time now ( over a year) and still leave about double that amount of poop for me every single morning to clean up, along with pee puddles. They have destroyed my hardwood (it is stained black). No amount of training, cleaning or any suggestions I got here helped. Natures miracle and lots of 5 gallon jars of vinegar have been my only solution. Lol

OH brother. Good thing I do have a gallon of vinegar. I’m going to try to stay on top of this because that picture is when I didn’t clean it up right away. A little depressing to know my perfectly litter trained buns are not so perfect anymore. At least I don’t have to worry about them being sick (I thought this might be the reason for the new piddles but my bf brought up a good point that they only have “accidents” in their room and no where else in the house)

Yeah, mine are the same. If I don’t clean it up every few hours at least, it’s a huge mess. Which means, over night… messy. lol

maybe im the only one,, but vacuuming up pills with a bagless vac is kinda fun..

the go ‘schook” up the chute and then theres a whole bunch of them spinning around around on the wall of the canister seemingly defying gravity.

lol mike. It was fun the first couple times. And I still don’t mind the poo. It’s the marking. It annoying to have a pee mess right next to the litter box. Almost feels mocking lol

I gave them a third litter box anyways. It’s been untouched all day -_- Let’s hope it helps tonight

Haha I know how you feel. Mine love to pee just outside the box too. It is like “yes we know the litterbox is where we SHOULD go but still don’t wanna”. I just had the joy of scrubbing up a big pee puddle before bed. :p On the bright side.. you will know when they have cloudy / bloody urine much easier.

That’s true. I am don’t know when to react to that stuff though because sometimes it’s “normal”. The red urine I mean or white looking urine.

Reddish rust color is normal. Blood would be quite easy to spot in the whiteish / yellow stuff though. My two actually pee different colored urine so I know who is who from it. And after a while of cleaning it up, I know what is normal and what is off. Same with the droppings, cleaned so much of it up I can tell them apart since coloring and size are different. Lol

lol the things we slaves do. I who pooped what because of the obvious size differences. I’m not pro enough to tell the pee apart. I’m watching them more closely to try to cut things down and I can proudly say there was no piddle accidents in that spot this morning. All it took was 2 giant litter boxes, blocking off the wall, and putting so many toys there to distract them they had no place to pee. lol

My trio go through this sometimes inside their cage — typically if we keep on top of cleaning it all up ASAP the next day or two it’s back to just a few left around.

I’m sure you probably already thought of this — but are you positive their litter boxes are being cleaned out enough for their liking? This is always how mine looks if I take too long to clean it out, LOL. So thought I’d make sure.

Oh man, I JUST went through a similar battle. My bonded pair have been bonded for a few months now and they JUST started doing the poop war. I put a couple new things in the pen so I figured that must have been the reason. I took out the bed, which I discovered was covered in pee (and discovered that’s where the smell was coming from!) and took out the hay box (they still get hay just not in that hay box). They stopped the poop wars after that. I am buying new things for them so I am HOPING they aren’t going to start up with the poop wars again!
