I have 2 bunnies, one male (cubique) and female (lilac)..

Recently I have noticed, when it’s Cubique’s turn to play outside and Lilac’s poop is somewhere on the floor. He actually eats her poop occassionally.

Is it safe for him to do that? And it’s not the cecotropes form but the fecal pellets form. So he’s eating her fecal pellets..

        Why is he doing that?

Some bunnies just like to eat poop. I don’t think you need to worry unless he’s eating a lot. Are they spayed and neutered? Have you thought about bonding them?

            Hi! Thanks for your reply!
They’re not spayed or neutered yet as they are still very young. One of them is 5 months and the other is turning 3 months in a few days. I’m going to neuter the male one soon, after his nose problem is cured. He’s visiting the vet 2 times a week for nebulization currently.
They actually get along really well! I’m in the midst of bonding them. They don’t fight. Lilac (female) seems to love Cubique a lot. Cubique, on the other hand is just ahem.. horny (or maybe he really loves her). LOL

            Here’s their cage layout.

Is the boy the one that is 5 months? If so, then he is definitely “in love”. I presume that is why he has taken such an interest in her poop. I would be cautious then if they aren’t fixed yet. You don’t want them to accidentally get pregnant. Letting them see each other through the bars is okay. That way they aren’t complete strangers when it comes time for bonding. Just make sure they can’t somehow do the deed through the bars. You’ll need to wait until they have both been done before you can do any real bonding.

Yup, def be careful. We have heard of bunnies doing “the deed” through gates and condos! You might want to take a piece of cardboard or plastic sheeting and separate the bottom part of their shared wall. They could still see each other if they stand but not be able to do anything naughty.

Hi! Thanks for your replies! But not to worry, you can’t see in the picture but we have a brown plastic fence thing that blocks them, there are holes but it’s really very tiny so that won’t be able to do anything
