my rabbit is kept in a cage in our house, he will be let out every night but it seems when he is in his cage and me and my partner are chilling out, he will run to either side of his cage, and then he will get faster and jump around and thump. he will have something in his mouth, sawdust, food, cardboard and poo, carry on doing this, stop, scent the bars…and carry on….for about 5 minutes. I dont no if he is happy, or angry, or just wants our attention. im confused

Sounds like he has some pent-up energy and is letting you know that he wants to get out and play. How much out of cage time does he get a day?

Agreed with Hazel – how much time does your bunny get out of cage every day? Definitely sounds like he has some pent up energy.

He comes out every night when we are home. Has a sniff, a hop and a cuddle and then goes back in his cage. It would make sense if its just his way of telling me he wants to come out more

It kind of sounds like he has a lot of energy, and might need to have more room to roam. What size is his cage? Is he fixed?

If he goes back in his cage by himself, why not try leaving his cage door open so he can go in and out for a longer time. Don’t shut the cage once he’s back in. I think he wants a bit of exercise and play time, plus attention, so he may bounce around outside and go back for a rest, then come out again. Sammy would do that often in the evenings.

                      Hi
Two of my rabbits live in a x-pen in my livingroom and then are allowed the run of the house when we’re home. They will often go back into their pen and snooze for an hour or so simply because they think of it as their home. After they’re done sleeping they’ll get up and zoom again.

Seems like your bunny needs more time to be let out! She seems soooo energetic! xD You might want to take her out of her cage rather than only at night time.. They need at least 4 hours outta that cage! try to make her run around while giving her treats
