I know I still have a while before seriously thinking about this, but I thought I had more time – anyway so in around 2-3 months I am going to spay my rabbit (she is 3 months old now) and bond her with my other rabbit – or attempt to anyway. my question is, should I get another xpen or is one okay? I was thinking that one xpen would be fine (because my room is so small I seriously doubt 2 will fit, unless if I take out my table which I cant unless if I unscrew it and take the top off because its too wide to come in through the door cause the people assembled it in my room) but I recently got a new litter box for my older rabbit (really high sides and it works great because he is always peeing over the edge) but I now realize that i will be unable to fit 2 of the same litter boxes in the back? Because it is in a rectangle, not a square because it won’t fit in my room (without it being awkwardly smack dab in the middle of my room). Well actually I don’t know I haven’t tried that yet, but my bed is super heavy and it’s hard to move but I certainly can do it.

The measurements are: 6’10” by 28″, there is a second shelf that is 40″ by 27 and a 1/2″ but I’m going to take it down when I first bond them I might put it back but if I do i will be buying it/ making it again (really cheap just need some plywood and vinyl stick on tiles and other things but its no big deal) the panels are a bit bigger than average by the way*

2 litter boxes will not fit side by side (i tried with a smaller litter box and the one I bought with the high sides) so obviously 2 high sided litter boxes will not fit. Should I try to turn it into a square? I feel like there won’t be enough room? I mean I know it’s the same xpen just in a different shape, but yeah. I really don’t need another xpen, maybe just 2 more panels or something. what should i do? any opinions? is it too soon to be worrying about this?

Well, they should be sharing a litter box – you don’t need 2. Are those the measurements for the x-pen that you posted? Or are you looking at the 4 x 4 pen?

I heard that rabbits can get a bit territorial over litter boxes, especially since both spend a substancial amount of their time in their litter boxes eating hay and the litter box isnt HUGE but its big enough that 2 wont fit side by side. and I really don’t want any accidents to occur due to one of the rabbits hogging the box, marking and everything else is understandable (although Im not sure if rabbits that already fixed will still do this?)

And yes the xpen my current rabbit is in is 6’10” by 28″ with a second shelf. each panel is 28″. my youngest bun lives in an XL dog crate for the time being

My pair have always had two litterboxes. I only clean boxes 2-3 times a week. If I had one box, it would have to be done every 1-2 days. Plus I have a hay box suspended over one of the litterboxes, so only half is available for “doing business”.

The more space you can give, the better. Do you have a pic of your pen? Could you use NIC grids to expand the back wall of the pen?

Hmmm…well I’ve always had my pairs share a litter box – they never really did seem to spend that much time in their boxes anyway – at least mine didn’t and still don’t as singles.

Actually after looking through my phone i have ONE photo but it looks weird cause i took one of those panorama pictures, but i could still post it? or i could take one when i get home. also, well I don’t know if nic grids would work because the pen is 42″ tall and it just doesnt seem like it would work? hard to explain i’ll post a picture later today
