Hey guys I’m new here… My bunny, Cinnabun, is almost 4 months old and around 2-2.5 pounds. He fell off the top floor of his condo (around 3 feet high) 3 hours ago while he was playing. He seems to be fine, I picked him up and moved his feet he didn’t react or seem like he is in pain. As far as I can tell he’s not limping and he seems to be hopping around fine. He can stand up when I offer him treats above his head which probably means he didn’t hurt his back, right? He’s eating and pooping just fine. But he’s been hiding in a corner of his cage sulking. Should I be worried? He does sometimes hide in a corner to sleep but he doesn’t seem to be moving around very much… I called the vet and all he said was to watch him overnight for any weird behavior and to call in the morning if anything is wrong. What should I be looking for and is there anything I can do for him? Thanks!

          Hi Winnie,
It’s a very good sign that he can move about and does not appear to be retricted but the vet is right, keep an eye on him for any changes.
Bunnies of that are are fairly resiliant and if it was only a short distance he should be OK just a little sore. The biggest concern would be if he landed awkwardly that’s when they can hurt their spines.
Watch out for loss of balance or disorientation, weakness in the back legs, diarhea, head tilt, loss of appetite. Really anything that is out of the ordinary.

Welcome! Glad you called a vet that sounds like fine advice and considering all that you described he sounds like he’s doing fine. He may be a little sore-hence the hiding, I’m sure it didn’t feel great, but it’s a relatively short fall for a young light bunny-I bet he’s fine. Just keep an eye like you are and watch for anything out of the ordinary-like Roberta suggested

Oh what a sweet lil button he is! Looks like my Mimz when he was wee.
Mimzy once jumped from his first outdoor hutch (before he became an indoor bun) and it was about a four foot drop to the shed floor. At the time I hadn’t sexed him properly and thought he was a doe, perhaps pregnant and I flipped out. He couldn’t have been more than six months old at the time.
He was fine though. Not sure which of us was more scared. 0_o
Keep in mind though that bunnies being prey animals makes them good at hiding illness or injury. If at any time you think something is not right, best to take him to a qualified exotics (rabbit) vet.

Welcome to BB! And please post more pix of darling Cinnabun!
