Hi everyone, Dutchess has seemed off the past 7-10 days. I think her nose is wetter than normal, I wouldn’t say it’s runny though. She’s been sneezing more than usual, a little more agressive, and just today she flopped over to sleep four times, when normally I would only spot a flop once every few weeks. She is eating normally and dived for munching her kale last night, still begs for treats. I’m not sure if I’m overreacting and just think I hear more sneezes or think her nose is wetter, or if maybe she’s caught something? Some advice would be helpful, maybe some other things I could watch for that might signal something.

It sounds like you are very concerned and for that reason I would suggest taking your little sweetie to the vet just to be sure. Sometimes rabbits can be very subtle about not feeling 100% well and even those little things that you mention could possibly be an indication of illness or feeling unwell.

I wouldn’t be able to take her in until Monday, are there any specific things I could look for in the meantime? It almost seems like it comes and goes in a way, she’ll hop around normally but then veg out for several hours. I do have some metacam but I hesitate to use it because she doesn’t seem to be in pain.

I think Monday would be fine – it doesn’t sound like an emergency. I would just watch her like you are and see if you can get in and have the vet do a physical exam sometime next week. I wouldn’t use metacam at this point either.

Got back from the vet, she has something that is probably viral, vet picked up on a few spots of fur near her nose/neck/paws that were matted down from her rubbing her nose which I hadn’t spotted (I love her vet, so thorough!), and she has some nasal congestion, she did her litte breathing squeaky thing there, so I’m glad they heard that. She has an antibiotic to take just in case it’s bacterial or turns bacterial since she’s been having symptoms for 7-10 days. So she should feel better soon, she also sneezed nine times in a row yesterday! I’ve never heard a person much less a bunny do that. She’s curled up in a little ball right now, she refused to swallow her first dose of grape medicine at the vet until we kind of tickled her and made her a bit mad so she’d do her little bat/grunty thing and finally swallow. She’s got so much divatude, making us all sit there forever just waiting for her to swallow. Anyway, no penumonia or anything abnormal in her belly, or ear/eye infections, so as long as I can wrangle her into taking her meds she should be getting back to her grunty, binky, bunny 500 self soon.

Vibes to Dutchess Marie. I hope she gets back to full Divatude very soon.

She is definately much better, vet said she should bounce back pretty quick on this med and she is. She did some races back and forth on the couch and did a flying half binky this afternoon. She is still sneezing, but not nearly as much and her nose isn’t wet like it was before, and she nearly wagged her tail in her mad dash for treats this morning. I didn’t realize all the little things she hadn’t been doing until she’s started doing them again – – I opened my bedroom door (she’s not allowed in there) and she had been lying in wait somewhere where I couldn’t see her, and in she scampered and dove under my bed, then ran across the hall into mom and dad’s room (where she also isn’t allowed) and high-tailed it around in there before she followed me out back in the hallway again. So when she gets into ‘trouble’, she’s definately feeling good Thanks everyone for the thoughts!

She definitely seems to be feeling better. That’s great!

                              Continued healing vibes!
