I used to live with my husband and his family and my rabbit used to play with my husbands dog. My rabbit loooves his dog, but we are now separated and I have my own place and I think the move has really upset my rabbit. He has more space to run around and play where I live now, I thought he’d be content but he looks miserable. He was in the backyard and typically he runs all over but now he just eats the grass and lies on the ground. I tried to give him treats but that didn’t work. He turned his back toward me so I left him alone. I came back a few minutes later and he still had his back turned. I had to put him back in his cage but he wouldn’t move so I picked him up, which was shocking cuz he never lets me. Now he’s in his cage in a corner huddled up. It breaks my heart!! I really think he misses his dog friend, but I can’t bring the dog with me it’s not my dog. What can I possibly do to make my rabbit comfortable? I almost feel like going back to my husband just so my rabbit can be happy again. I’m soooo sad for him. He’s still huddled in his cage, same spot, I tried talking to him but he turns to his side. He will not eat anything. He was eating today but suddenly started getting depressed. What can I do?

I think it would be best if he were seen by a good rabbit vet. It may not be emotional…he may be sick. Depending on what has made him ill you may need to have him seen as an emergency.
You say he’s been eating grass. Is this a manicured lawn that might have pesticides in it? Is he used to eating grass at all? If not it could be causing his stomach to bloat.
Has he pooped or peed recently? How long has it been from the time you last saw him acting normally to this behavior?

He is used to eating grass. The grass I have now used to have pesticides but it’s been so long I don’t think it still has it in the soil. He was going to the bathroom this afternoon. He just a half hour ago seemed fine again, eating, running. I didn’t check the litterbox though to see if he pooped. I live with my mom and she has a cat and the cat whacked my rabbit and he got anti-social again

I ditto, Mimzmum. It’s possible it’s more than just the separation making him depressed. I suggest you get him checked over by a vet to rule anything physical out.

I would agree, it does sound like a sick bun. Changes can really upset a bun IMO also. Thane hated when I moved him from my apartment to my nans. If he is healthy would you consider bonding him with another bun?
