        Hello,

My little bunny Moon has not been eating or pooping normally for the last 24 hours, so I took him to the vet this afternoon.  The vet believes tape worms may be throwing off his digestion.  He dewormed him and also gave me some cat-lax to feed him daily.  However, I can’t seem to figure out how I’m going to get Moon to eat the stuff.  Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks guys.

Is your vet familiar with rabbits? Not eating/pooping is a very serious health sign for rabbits that should be treated on an emergency basis.

Has he been eating or pooping at all? I suggest emptying his litter box so you can keep track of his pooping. If he’s not eating any at all, try mixing some of his pellets with water and juice to make it more appetizing, or see if he’ll eat any veggies or treats.

If possible, I would find a good bunny vet ASAP and have him seen.

I agree. This is an emergency situation. Please find another vet asap.

Catlax? What is that? I haven’t heard of that being used for GI stasis.

The old school of thinking was to give a rabbit a cat laxative, such as Catlax, if they weren’t eating or pooping. There are several brands of laxative. I think most of them come in tubes that you squeeze into the cat’s mouth. Most if not all of them contain cod liver oil, something that would be palatable to a cat, but not to a rabbit.

I didn’t think that any vets recommended those laxatives for rabbits now. It doesn’t seem that 1960speak’s vet is very rabbit savvy.

A cat laxative just doesn’t sound like something you should give a bun. Bleck!

That sounds sketchy to me. That type of cat laxative isn’t even something most vets would reccomend for a severe case of constipation in cats… which would be most comparable to GI stasis. It’s really more for pushing hairballs through a the cats system. A rabbit would benefit most from gut motility drugs
