It’s with a heavy heart that I say that Simon passed just a  few short minutes ago. It was very sudden, so he didn’t suffer too much. He was a beautiful, sweet boy, and at least I know that he had a few days of love and comfort with us after a miserable life previously.

        Binky Free, sweet Simon.

                MB I’m so sorry.
I think his time with you was a little preview of Paradise over the bridge, so he would believe it was really possible.
Thank you for showing him some love.

God bless Simon. The Lord is only taking the best recently, but at least he passed safe and loved, and is now happy and healthy, running free over the bridge, with all the other bunnies. He’s with his sister now, if I am thinking of the correct bun. I’m sorry he had to be the one, (((hugs))) ❤❤❤

Hey hun, I just went back through your posts and read all about Simon and i’m very sorry to hear that you lost him.. I am so glad he was finally loved..and it is so sad how he ended up at the shelter…I’m so glad that you were able to take him in and care for him for the short time that he was in your home.

Any idea what may have caused his death? I know that you said he had a seizure in another post…Are they planning to do a necropsy in case it’s something that the other sibling (with GI stasis) might have trouble with?

                      Binky free little Simon.

Vet says bacterial infection. Likely cause by a bacteria he’s hand hanging around since he was a baby bun, and it flared up after the stress of changing environments and such. Nothing we could have done He showed no symptoms at all, this morning I left at 7:15 to go pick up a foster bun for another volunteer, just before 9 i got a call from my hubby about Simon. Before I left, I had seen Simon happily hop around and go lounge in his potty, was completely normal. He crashed fast… which is a good thing I suppose. He didn’t suffer from it. He was gone by 2pm.

I’m having him cremated, and I’ll get him back Monday or Tuesday. I’ll keep his ashes with me until I buy a house, then I’ll plant some roses and put him under them, I’m sure he would have liked that. After his not so pleasant life, he deserves a nice resting place.

I am sorry to post like this on here but someone royally Thummped me off today!!!!!!!!!!! when looking on a post I put up for Lesley and her family on my page the bunny barn. Why do people find that they have the right to make stupid rabbit stew jokes after a loved bunny passes away and they think that it is funny? You know who you are! I think its rude and cruel!!!! Because I am a bunny lover and don’t have cats or dogs, do I get to make a comment like at least we can make cat soup? or puppy roast?? no I would be considered a sicko!! So what gives you the right to make a comment like at least we can have rabbit stew??? I am growing tired of the ignorant comments like these that make me doubt the intelligence and compassion of mankind….THUMP!!!!

I am so sorry, MB. But at least his life ended with someone who really cared about him. He deserved at least that. I’m really really sorry for your loss though, MB. And really sorry about the whole situation that this all stemmed from. But at least Simon is with his sister and they can be binkying through dandelion fields and munching on all their favorite foods up there together and with all the other fantastic buns we have lost here at BB. <3 My heart is with you and your efforts to save him… the whole situation is really sad but it's amazing what lengths you took for him. You're an awesome bunny parent. <3

Bullrider — I have to agree. Those jokes get really old, really fast. Especially when they aren’t necessary. Such thoughtless people in this world.

That’s so sad. At least he got to live his last days loved and in a safe place.

I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s so good he had a family to love him in his last days.

I thought I had posted here but it must have been the Lounge thread.

MB, I saw the pic of the box for his ashes in the Picture thread. I like the verse it has with it. It so good of you and your hubby to give Simon a resting place. He derserved so much more in life that he sadly didn’t get. So it’s only fitting in his final days he met true bunny lovers that showed him some love and have honoured him after he went to the Bridge. ***Binky Free Simon!***

Is there any news of the 3rd rabbit that was in stasis? Has she come good now?

The 3rd bun, Ali, was in stasis for going on 7 days last I heard, but that was a bit ago now. I’ll see if I can get an update on her condition, poor girl.

And yes, that verse is wonderful.. it certainly made me tear up the first few times I looked at. Still makes me a bit sad, it’s up there on the mantel with Simon.
