Just adopted my girl Winnie from the local shelter and am just curious to see if anyone could tell me what breed she is.

She's a big girl, about the size of a cat. She looks all black, but in the sunlight, her coat is splotched with brown as well.

There are more photos of her on my profile if anyone would like to look and take a stab at guessing what breed she is

Thanks!

- Logan and Winnie

Easy. She's one of those Black Beauties. Seriously though, I have no idea, I guess the shelter didn't have any info about where she came from?

The shelter said she was around 3.5 years old, she wasnt spayed so I had that done. They didnt give me any other information about her unfortunately. She weighs around 7lbs I think, and shes got a long, lean body and yes, is quite the beauty

Hard to tell my first thought was New Zealand White and then I was like, duh. Haha she's got the big ears like a NZW or Flemish. How much does she weigh. Has she seen a vet yet to give you an age approximation?

She's a super cutie that's for sure. You're a very lucky hooman.

FF, LMAO.

No idea, I would have to guess.. Black Beauty also though! And 7 lbs, haha. She's 2 of my brats put together!

But the breeder I bought my buns from raises New Zealands and they come in black also! Obviously not the New Zealand White though!

It's possible she's a mix. My first instinct was Flemmie, but 7lbs seems small for a full grown Flemmie.

Thanks everyone for your input. Her foster mom thought she was part Flemish, my thought was NZ too though. I think i'm going to go with Black Beauty a rare breed for sure haha

Well she has the Flemmie ears and Head shape, but her rounded back reminds me of the polish, New Zealands are more elongated in the body. definitely a beauty though!!!!

sorry your post didn't show up until after I posted. She's definitely a mix. Although I think polish are small. Someone suggested Bunjamin got his size (2.5lbs) from being part polish. I need to go read up more but I hate the "breeding" process and often trying to find details on a breed leads to that. Anyways, I'm so glad you adopted black beauty

I honestly think the body looks long and lean like one of the tans but then the neck and head are different.

Oh, wow.. NikitaSue! I didn't even notice how similar she was to my buns!! She really does have the exact same body structure and except for her dewlap her head and neck are very similar also! I've never seen a breed mixed with a Tan though so I have no idea what it would look like! The Tans though all look exactly the same besides their distinct top coloring with the tan underside so if she has Tan in her it's definitely mixed with something black!

AAHHHHH. She has the same little paws and stands very similar to them! Now I can't stop looking and comparing... LOL.

Also, is she insanely hyper and active? If she is... then you MAY have some Tan in that beauty. Tans are insane. And that's putting it nicely. Little terrors!

Haha well, shes actually pretty relaxed most of the time. Shes 100% free range at my house because shes not destructive at all. Thats why I was thinking she had some Flemmie in her. However, she is VERY curious and can get herself into some pretty funny situations but like I said, shes never chewed anything (except wires, which I have put away... but she got my headphones lol) and she never runs around, just hops here and there sniffing things between eating (shes an eating machine, a binge bunny as I call her) and napping. Her head does look like your tans though doesnt it! And she does have some brown/tan splotches in her coat, but you can only see it in direct sunlight.

Yeah, she would be WAY big for a Tan. The females are between 4-5 but all the ones I've seen are under 5 and the boys typically just reach 4 lbs. Although, I'm not really sure who would breed a Tan with another bun -- I haven't seen or heard about Tans anywheres besides breeders and showing. No one seems to be interested in them or even know much about them. So I don't think they're a prevalent breed at all.

She looks like a Heinz 57 to me I would say more NZ than flemmies though, my girl hit 7 lbs at like, 4 months old hah. They are a really large breed.
