Toffee says it's not easy getting old.

I took her to the vet today for a dental because she has stopped eating her greens and her pellets and was only eating her treats.

The vet had to pull one of her teeth that she says she has been keeping an eye on because it had been loose - well it was ready to come out and it was infected too.  Plus she had some points and the vet said she had some tarter build up too.

So we are doing pen-g shots for the next 7 days again to help with the infection and metacam to help with swelling and pain from the tooth being pulled.  I just hope she eats on her own - I've never had to hand feed her but I think if I have to she will be super easy although my preference is for her to eat.

Her weight went from 8 pounds to 7.4 pounds but the vet wasn't concerned - she can stand to lose some weight anyway.

Hopefully she will feel better now.  She's funny because she never acts uncomfortable, grumpy but not uncomfortable - I guess her grumpiness is a sign of discomfort.  I hope that the swelling and pain go away quickly for her and she feels better.

I'm glad I didn't wait until next week to take her in too - it's just so hard to tell that she doesn't feel well.

More vibes! Some grumpy moods might show she has a fighting spirit through it all. My bossy girl Vivian would be proud.

Hope she is doing better now! Keep us updated.

More vibes for Ms. Toffee please. She is still not eating - she ate a little on Friday night - I think it's because the vet did a local anesthesia. I'm hoping tomorrow she will be eating.

Well, I'm glad she's an easy patient, anyways. Nothing adds to the stress of a sick bunny more than having to force feed a difficult bunny (ahem...Bindi Loo....).

Well finally Ms. Toffee seems to be back to normal - it took much longer this time - all week for her to return mostly to normal. It's just taking longer and longer for her to feel better :~( It's concerning.

Also Mr. Peppermint seems so bony lately - he hates to be touched or petted though. He's been having dental problems too - I hope that's all it is. He's been attacking me for his treats so that's good. But I have noticed him drinking more water - I'll wait a bit to see how he does as I just had his teeth done not long ago as well.

Yea about Miss Toffee!

Your bunnies seem to be in batches of the same vintage, Sarita, so when one has an age related issue, often another does as well. It sounds like Peppermint may be feeling his oats (instead of eating them) now, too. Spockie slimmed down from his max. weight in his last couple of years, so that may be all it is.

Thanks for the update. Gah! I week would leave me a nervous wreck. Happy to hear she's finally eating more normally.

Vibes for (((Peppermint))) also. I have noticed older rabbits seem to carry their weight differently and makes the backbone seem more defined. I hope Peppermint hasn't got anything too serious going on & is feeling and looking more spritely soon.
