Bindi and Olivia feel like dressing up and having a costume contest. How about your buns?

Before we get started, I need a volunteer Score Keeper who doesn't plan on entering his/her bunny(ies) in the contest. This person will be in charge of receiving and tallying up votes, as well as giving scores to the bunnies of any Judges that enter. Score Keepers will have to be available to tally entries Saturday, October 27.

I also need 4 judges. I will be Judge #1. Who can I sign up for #2, #3, #4 and #5?  Judges can enter the contest but cannot vote for their own bunnies. The Score Keeper will vote for Judges' bunnies, to keep things fair. Judging date will be Saturday, October 27, so you have to be available. Any volunteers for Judges?

RULES:

There will be a First, Second and Third Place. This contest is just for fun. Bunny slaves will be responsible for providing treats/prizes to the winning bunnies.

Contest Runs from Friday, October 5 to Friday, October 26. Pictures can be entered between these dates only. Voting will be Saturday, October 27 and Winners will be announced Sunday, October 28.

There will be 2 Categories:

  1.  Real Costumes
  2.  Photoshop Costumes

Voting will be on a 5 Binky System with 5 Binkies being the highest vote. Judges will consider the following in their score:

  • Overall Costume
  • Originality
  • Picture Quality

One entry per bunny. One picture per entry and all entries must include: Bunnies Name and Costume Description

Costumes can be home-made or store bought. I want to see originality and adorableness.

SAFETY FIRST: Please keep safety in mind and use common-sense. If you don't think your bunny will tolerate a costume, you can just use accessories or props. Or enter the Photoshop Costume Category. Do not leave any bunny unsupervised in a costume. If you do decide to use a costume, take a quick picture and then undress immediately. This is supposed to be fun so we don't want any buns getting hurt or upset.

I volunteer to be a judge! I don't have a bunny yet, though I'm getting one in the future, and it's the holidays right now, so I've plenty of free time on my hands and I can't even enter a bunny! Can I please be judge 2? x

I can also be a judge! I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to enter any of my buns -- I'm not sure ANY of them will tolerate it being the little terrors that they are!

Ohhh!!! I was hoping we were going to do this and have been scoping out some cute things to dress Skipper up in (finally convinced the bf to let me dress her up xD). I would love to be a judge if there is still an open spot.

Judge #2- bunnygirl98
Judge#3- tanlover14
Judge #4- Skipper'sMama
Judge #5- peppypoo

Now we just need a Score Keeper. I would do it but since I'm entering my buns, I don't want anyone to think I cheated if one of them wins.   I plan on them having super awesome costumes BTW.

I'm gonna leave it up to you all whether we should allow photoshop. I'm fine either way. It might be a good idea for those who can't dress up their buns. You guys decide and fight it out.

I think photoshop should only be allowed to be used for touching up the photo -- not adding a whole costume to the bunny or such. Some people don't have photoshop or programs like that (or know how to use them) so I think it may be a little unfair if you could actually put a whole outfit on your bun via photoshop? Can you even do that? I'm not sure -- I have it but really have no idea how to do anything on it.

shoot I had the best costume idea if we allowed photoshop but I can see where others would not want it.
Now to find mini wig...

I'm thinking about being scorekeeper. As much as I want pics of Bunjamin dressed up, I don't think he will really approve nor do I have the time to make a costume. I'm suppose to be getting myself one but I don't have time for that either!

i agree photo shop is ok for touching up photos, but it wouldn't really be fair if you could photo shop your rabbit flying on a broom in the sky, ya know?

Actually, I'd be perfectly happy being score keeper, if anyone wants to be a judge and enter their bunnies. I don't think I'll have time to dress Peppy up..she's getting off easy this time .

First, Yea! It's that time again and thank you, LPT for starting this!

I'd like to make a suggestion regarding Photoshop.

We have been known to discourage dressing bunnies in costumes in the past due to the difficulties that can arise that could lead to potential health risks, which some of you have already alluded to here. If your bunny is ok with it, dress them only for as long as it takes to get the picture and get it on and off gently so they don't struggle much. But many of us wouldn't dare try it with our Squirmy the Wormy Bunnies.

How about 2 Main Categories? 1st one is photos only. Bunnies in costume and natural, not photo-retouched, settings. You set it up, you shoot it, you deal with the stink eye coming your way.

2nd one is Photoshop entries only. Can be other photo software, not just photoshop, but it's a basic pix of an undressed bunny (how immodest!) with photo touches, settings, costumes, all added artificially. These are the bunnies on broomsticks, etc. That way, your bunny may never see how you've embarrassed them unless they know the password to your laptop or iphone.

Whaddaya think, LPT?

I still think photo retouching should be allowed for the first category. AKA- pressing the magic wand on my iPhone

That's a great idea RP! My bf and I have agreed that Skipper is only allowed a costume that velcros around the neck or body. We're not going to try to stick her in anything that could hurt her.

I second the photo retouching being allowed in the first category - brightness/contrast

If peppy would like to switch to scorekeeper I'll be a judge. I'm still debating whether or not Bunjamin will be entering. I need to start stock piling carrots if so!

LPT, you have the best ideas!
Where did you find that cute cartoon heading this thread?

We don't really do Halloween here so this is fun for me. Though I'm really not sure what passes as a Halloween costume... It's dress up as anything right? Lol

@zoologist, I vote yes for your idea. That sounds fun.

I was thinking somewhat similar to RP that people could post a photoshop entry thats not an official entered photo.
But I do like RabbitPams idea to create a special competiton category for it as its more inclusive. So both people who can't dress up there rabbit can participate and people who don't have photo editing software or skills can participate. Like!

I'm glad you are all enthusiastic about this! I'm excited too. I know what Bindi will be but still thinking about Olivia's options. Yes, Jersey, you can dress up as anything for Halloween.

Okay, so Peppy will be our Score Keeper and Frankie Flash will be Judge #5.

I really like Pam's idea about a second category for Photoshop pics. I like the idea of people who can't dress up their bunnies having the option but I don't think it's fair to have photoshopped pics compete against real pics, so that settles that. I will update the rules.

I'm going to say that the only photoshopping allowed for the first category will be basic editing like brightness and cropping. No adding anything, changing the colours of the pictures or anything like that. No adding photoshopped backgrounds.

For the Real Costume Category, you can use creative backgrounds and props to enhance your bunnies costume.

LPT! 'I have spoken' that put a smile on my face! So the photoshop/editing category cannot be full blown edits, with added pumpkins and witches hats? Just basic editing? And the real competition is of course normal photographs? I'm a bit confused?

Sorry if I made that confusing.

The Photoshop Costume Category you can do whatever you want. Go nuts! You can add costumes, background, text, whatever.

The Real Costumes Category is no photoshopping allowed with the exception of brightness/contrast and cropping.

Yea! Thanks for using my suggestion, LPT.

Exactly - Photoshop Category: be as creative as you want in two dimensions with the photo software.

Live Costume Category: Real live bunnies are posing for their close up, Mr. DeMille.

Ahh ok cool! Sorry for asking yet ANOTHER question, but do the judges vote for a winner from each category at the end? Like a first, second, third kind of thing?
