So Felix used to poop and pee in his food and water and make it a mess and I’d have to change it a million times a day. Thankfully I got him to keep using his litter box so he’s stopped. BUT now he gets food inside of the water and it gets all icky and gross again :[ I tried to get him to upgrade to a water bottle but he doesn’t seem to drink from it yet. I don’t think he’s ever had anything but a water dish so how do I go about teaching him? I pushed him up to it and he just sniffs it and hops away lol. Anyway to get him to drink from it?

We put a syringe of pineapple juice in our first water bottle to teach my buns how to drink from it. We adopted him at 2 years old, so he was set in his bowl ways. We didn’t mind the bowl, but the vet recommended he at least learn how to use a bottle for when we have to have bunny sitters (they never change the water as much as us).

I hit the ball to get some drops of water out, so he would smell the water and the juice. It worked for us. Two years later, he is still loving his bottle!

Try putting some apple sauce on the little ball.

Have you taken the water bowl away? You have to do that too. Otherwise, he will choose what is familiar.

I was about to make a post asking the same question. Good thing I checked. Those are great suggestions! I’m going to try the applesauce thing tomorrow. Thanks!
