The condo I made for Mimzy before wasn’t working out too well so I reconstructed it. It’s 2 grids wide by 3 grids long, 4 tall. She hasn’t tried the 3rd level yet (that I know of) but maybe she’ll get there eventually. My boyfriend helped me a little with cutting wood but turns out I’m somehow more a handy man than he is lol. So I did most of it myself Here it is!!

That’s really good, how did you secure the ramps?

Hinges screwed onto the bottom side of her floor

& she finally went to the 3rd floor & played up there for a while

Glad to hear it 🙂 I’m going to have to make a ramp for mine, the can get up to the top level but can’t really get up the courage to jump back down

this might be a stupid question, but how did you do the sides? i mean of the levels, like the wooden part.

Love the new cage! I need to try and build my 2 girl’s a condo and love the size etc of yours! Is that plywood in under the shelves and did you zip tie the shelves down some how? I’ve not built a condo before so have no clue! Also how big of holes did you put in the shelves so she can get from shelf to shelf?

Thanks everyone! The trim is poplar wood, I just did some measuring, cut them to size, & screwed them on from the bottom.

Her floor is untreated birch plywood with linoleum hot glued on top, then the trim is screwed on. Her hole for the ramp was kind of difficult to decide on size. It may vary depending on your rabbit’s size but Mimzy’s is 10″ wide & about 13 1/2″ long.
Her ramps are also birch, with poplar trim screwed on through the bottom to help her get up easier. Her ramp is 29″ btw.

The levels are resting on poplar trim (2 under both levels) & also for extra security, zip tied to the NIC grids. She really seems happy with it!

Btw, her supporting beams that are under both levels have notches cut out in them to rest on the grids easier without sliding everywhere. I got this idea from mocha

I love it! Where did you get the wood and about how much was it to build? How do you clean it? I want to make one of these really bad and have a lot of questions sorry lol

That looks amazing!! Good job putting that together. This is exactly the sort of thing I hope to build for Luna when I get the space for it.

Oops! Sorry, I didn’t see these last 2 posts

StarryMoon – I got all my wood from Home Depot. I bought a 6ft x 8ft birch plywood for around $40-$50 and had them cut it down to the sizes I needed. I also had enough left over to make my ramps. (You don’t have to do ramps of course) & then I bought about 4 pieces of poplar trim which aren’t really all that expensive. I think depending on the length you get them, it’s anywhere from $3 – $6 for each piece of trim. I would buy the zip ties at walmart though! Not home depot because they are very expensive there For the ramps, it’s birch plywood with poplar trim screwed onto it like steps so she can walk up it easier.

Birch plywood is usually kind of expensive, so if you wanted to try & look for something else, poplar wood is good to look for. Just make sure not to get red wood; not good for bunnies!

For cleaning, I have linoleum flooring just because it’s easier to clean. Really all I ever have to do is sweep up. (Or you can decide to use a vaccum instead, especially helpful if you have a carpeted condo)
She peed once outside her litter box and if they do that, just spray 50% water, 50% vinegar on it & clean it up It’s actually a lot easier to clean this condo than a smaller cage!
I also keep her hay & litter box just on the first level which makes it to where that’s really the only level that needs sweeping on a regular basis. I sometimes feed her on the bottom level too, mostly just in the mornings.

                            Hope that helped!

That helped a lot, thanks for all the advice We bought our NIC grids last weekend and plan to start constructing as soon as we figure out how to do the ramps. We are going to have two buns in a 5 story condo so we are trying to figure out how to double the middle ramp as a floor to separate two different living spaces. I’m thinking of some kind of hinge system, but figuring out how to make it sturdy enough is the real problem. Our buns are in the bonding process and we are preparing for the worst case scenario of them not actually being able to bond by having the option of sectioning off the condo. Ahh, it’s an exciting but very frustrating time in our bunny household

I love looking at condos. I’m always trying to improve mine. I like the idea about notches cut out in the dowels so they set on the nic cube and don’t move around. Good going Mimzy and Mocha!
