I have 2 six  month old buns. They are brothers and live together inside. I am going away for one night, (from 7am Sat to late Sunday night). I really really don't want to leave them alone. But i have no choice. They live in a double story hutch and are free range when i am home. I'm worried about leaving them alone for that long. Obvioulsy they will be in thier hutch for the time i am away. I am going to put a couple of extra water bottles on for them and loads of hay.

Does anyone have any tips for leaving bunnies for a while. I am sure they will be fine as they layze about sleeping all day when i am there anyways.

Any help would be great!

You don't have a friend or family member who could pop in and check on them?

If you don't, I suspect they will be fine as long as they have enough food and water.

I think if it's longer than 24 hours, it's best to have someone stop in and replenish food and water. Do you have a neighbor or friend you could give a key to?

Do you normally watch TV or listen to the radio or something? I'm a TV watcher, so any time I left my buns for a while, I would leave it on for him/her. That way she would think I was home. (I had a female buns for a while. Now, I have a male.)

My personal rule for leaving a buns was I had to see them once a day, so early Saturday and late Sunday would have fit in my rules. I've realized that no one I know takes my pet rabbit as seriously as I do, even when I say specific rules. So, if I told someone I was going the same time as you, they would likely just come Sunday late afternoon anyway. It defeated the purpose of having anyone check. I tried multiple people. The best way was to move my buns into someone's home while I was on vacation. They can't forget my rabbit when he'll beat at the cage when he wants fed!

When I've left my buns overnight, I just make sure they have a huge container of pellets, a whole bowl of water and lots of hay. They've always been fine. It's only a matter of making sure they have enough food. Otherwise, they should be just fine.

If you can =two water dishes/bottles is good; that way if they tip one over they aren't waiting a long time for more. Ditto adding more food than usual. And you can use treat dispensing toys to make the veggies or treats last.
