Even though I'm in denial that it's really September.....might as well start this month's chat off. |

Oh my goodness I can't believe that it's September already. Can we just rewind to June? Or fast forward to October? September has not fun holidays.
Happy early birthday ChaChaLover.
Haha! You just reminded me that my parents' birthday is coming up. Whoops. Got to figure out presents. |

My hubby is an American, and all his family is down here. I don't have as much of an issue leaving family behind, I know I can visit whenever |

At the end of the month I'm going away for 10 days, heading south to Melbourne to take part in their 'Royal Show', suppose it's like a huge county fair but in the city with lots of cattle, horses, dogs, cats and bunnies. I'm judging the "Rabbit Fibre" section which means I get to touch lots of lovely soft angora, swiss fox and other fibre producing breeds but not the rabbits themselves but what is 'harvested' off them... the competitors put at least 50g (2ish oz) of saddle fibre into a container and it's judged on a number of factors. Needless to say I'm more than a bit nervous and just hope it's better organised than the last show I judged at where they were half an hour late with my containers of 'fleece', the stewards took my score cards before I was finished and people don't try to grab at the containers. Thankfully my lovely mother has agreed to pet sit for me so I'm leaving a list of instructions, including when to clean bunny crates out and who gets what. |

Hi Toady, Really miss the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Don't remember ever getting to the Melbourne one though I lived there for 3 years. The Perth one is rather average and I must make an effort this year to check it out again. The Hobart one is tiny but fun. More like a small carnival most of the agricultural events took place in the rural towns. Do you have long haired buns ? My Piglet is a french angora and currently has a large matt that I am going to have to get a groomer to attend to due to the appalling performance I get from him when its grooming time. I make a point of asking any other angora or cashmere owners what their secrets are. |

My birthday is in 20 days. I *think*I'll be 33. I have had a MAJOR age block all year. I always have to calculate it out. I keep thinking about Eddie a lot. This coming week with be the 2nd anniversary of his passing. I have moments of sadness and I am missing him terribly. Lolli was born sometime this month. I don't remember the exact date, so I think I will celebrate her birthday within the next few days. She will be 5. My baby's gonna be 5. lol I have started 2 online classes. I haven't been in school for several years and it's a little funny how old habits come back. I pretty much find ANY excuse to not do my homework. LOL I also keep forgetting that I even have homework. I am also hoping that my pain specialist submits and gets approval for my permanent neurostimulator. We're getting rain from hurrican isaac here in Illinois and it is flaring my back up something awful. Sigh. Nothing I'm not used to but I know NOW what it'll be like to have tingling rather than pain so I can't wait for the stimulator to be in. |

I have started buying Xmas gifts. I figure it will save a lot of time and expense rather than running round like a mad chook on the day before Xmas which is als two days after I celebrate my 50th birthday. As I intend spending the Friday lunching at a Vineyard and the Saturday night (Dec22) having a family BBQ shopping is not something I want to embark upon in the gap between when the stores will no doubt be organised Bedlam. |

Roberta, Ash is an English Angora and Loki I believe is an angora cross, some reckon cashmere flop but honestly who knows... I love him none the less. I don't groom Ash as often as I should but when I do I give her a good going over, when she gets matts I tend to get my fingers into it and break it up then run a fine toothed comb (or human hair comb) through it to help get rid of it and of course pull out any loose hair from it. Ash will sit for a period of time to let me groom her but Loki doesn't really like it but he's slowly getting there, I tuck his head under my armpit and keep it dark, it worked when I was plucking out fluff last weekend. Then again I harvest Ash's fluff (and next time Loki's) for spinning purposes so have to keep it pretty clean, but I did cut out a huge matt during the week that was near her back leg so a bit less fluff to spin up (eventually) |

Oh this is beyond fingers. I have managed to break it down with the Matt Buster but its still huge. I get his head under my arm but the performance goes something like this.
Me: Grooming Time
Piglet as he heads for cover: NOT FREAKIN LIKELY
Me (as Piglets struggles to escape): C'mon we'll just do a few minutes
Piglet: LET ME GO STRUMPET!!!!!!!!!
Me: But Piglet you need a brush....
Piglet: Honk Snuffle Scratch Snuffle
Me: Sit still and I'll let you go in a second
Piglet: I will shred your T Shirt and mortally Wound your Track Pants Snuffle Nip Nip Nip... Release me slave !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me: Stop being an idiot
Piglet: How long must I suffer this indignity??????????????????????????? Snuffle snuffle gripe gripe
Me: See it's not that bad and I am holding the knots so it doesn't pull
Piglet: I bide my time Slave, I shall be free of your undignified attentions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me: Sit still, Oh Piglet, come back...
Piglet: A Ha, Freedom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have thwarted you lowly slave.... Now fetch me my dinner salad and we shall speak of grooming no more tonight!!!!!!!!!! |

That sounds like Loki at times, poor Piglet. I've cut mats in half at times when I couldn't get lower or didn't want it to hit the skin. Good luck with grooming, it's never easy when they won't cooperate |

LMAO....Roberta, that is classic! xD I have similar troubles with my bunnies when it's grooming time but none of them are long furred. They're just obstinate. Lolz..... First days of spring for you...meanwhile autumn is in full swing here and snow is not far off. It was a short summer, Charlie Brown. I turn 49 this month...then the countdown to the big 5-0 begins! *facepalm* I'll pass on my birthdays from now on, please. >_< |

Sounds like Wooly. He will make a mad dash if he sees me coming to groom him. Then he fusses and pouts the entire time. I have given up on perfection. I brush what I can and if it mats I just snip them off. |

Shoo, my daughter turns 2 today!! She tells me every single day that she "wants to set Ollie out" of his cage. He is fast on his way to becoming a full time house bunny! Less than a month till we move to our new warren!!!
Also, I've found the funniest site! Anybody ever heard of Disapproving Rabbits? I swear, when you're feeling down or stressed just check out some of those pictures! I think that LoveChaCha should enter some pictures of her little Diva disapproving of things from what I've seen of her on the last picture thread. |
