okay ,our bunny  is loved and he gets all the nutrition he needs. but i was just wondering , we give our 6-7 month old bunny pellets( a handful) 4 times a day  , unlimited hay, and veggies once in the afternoon and once at night, before i’m off to bed. but each time i pass by his cage, i never actually see him eat the timothy hay! he eats the pellets and veggies throughout the day, but no hay!  although we give him fresh hay at night which he munches on throughout the whole night,  and a handful of pellets,  that’s literally the only time he does eat the hay!  i tried at times to only give him hay the whole afternoon but he only ate a bit so i gave up and gave him veggies and a bit of pellets.   shouldn’t a rabbit eat hay all day?

*he eats hay throughout the day, but only minimum amount
         -thanks!

Yes, he should snack on hay all day. He may not like timothy hay and/or the brand or think it is stale. My buns won’t eat timothy either. He likes the sweetness of Orchard Grass or Botanical Hay. However, he will only eat those if they are fresh and Oxbow brand. Otherwise, he just has a few bites. Mine will eat two huge piles (nearly as big as him) of hay a day. I would advise trying a few different brands and types out to see what your buns likes. Are you sure your buns isn’t getting too many pellets? Maybe he is filling up on that. ((Other binkybunny forum people may have more advice on that one. I’ve always gotten adult rabbits, so maybe it is different for a younger one.))

My buns also eats more hay when it is in the litterbox.

well, my bunny is only a 6 month old , so he should get that much pellets .i don’t give him unlimited because he loves pellets and he will probably munch tall the pellets down. i’m probably going to mix 2 types of hay together ( timothy and some other kind).

i keep the hay in front of his litter box. i keep my hay in a HUGE bowl !

It is good that you are limiting his pellets to help increase his hay intake. It would definitely be a good idea to try some different varieties of hay.
