I've brought this up before, but it's been awhile. I enjoy the language of lagomorphs site alot. It's fun to use for observation. But it's been awhile since I have looked at it and someone emailed recently about nose wiggles and it reminded me of this great link to the meaning of nose wiggles http://language.rabbitspeak.com/rab...noses.html It's fun to use not only for observation, but the article suggests you can even try to respond with you own nose wiggle convo back to your bunny. LOL. I actually have tried that before and I did get some nose wiggle responses back. I love how the author says don't let others see you do this or you may be committed. |

LOL! That's so funny. I have to try it with Vivian. I suspect I may get the same response as Cinnabun gave you.
I did it with Jack when he was alive and we were having a full on nose wiggle bunny gossip session! I was so surprised. |

I can actually wiggle my nose. The first couple of times I did Skipper stopped and stared at me wondering what the heck I was doing. I think she was more or less surprised that I could do such a thing. =p |

I just corrected the link. I don't know why it was doing that. Hopefully the forum will stop reformatting the link (which breaks it) GRRR!

After reading this before I tried it with Belle. She did it a little bit I think. If I sped up she did too and then when I slowed down she did the same, it's pretty neat. |

LOL @ Yeti. I've done it several times with Sammy, and it seems to work, though not always 2 wiggles get 2 wiggles, and 3 get 3 etc. I would do it when she was lying down wiggling, and would stop and I'd wiggle back. She'd start up again then. Would go on for a little while between us. I could never decide whether to do the Bewitched wiggle side to side, the up and down nose twitch, or flare my nostrils, so would end up doing all three. |

ooo, just read that great article and there's a 4th way to wiggle! Pull your upper lip down over your top teeth and it looks like a bunny's nose. Must go talk to Sammy now.... |

Mine don't respond when I wiggle my nose, but their wiggles do tend to correspond to what I'm saying. When I talk they wiggle faster, as if they're listening, then when I stop they slow down again. |

I used to love doing the nose wiggle thing with Jack as he would respond (he had a big nose so it was easy to see too) -- though I have no idea what he or I was saying! Maybe non-responding nose wigglers just think it's best to ignore the human making weird faces. However, as Elrohwen noticed, the nose wiggle might be helpful in noting if something has caught their interest and/or they are listening. |

I tend to do the tooth chat with my bunnies. I'm not good at nose wiggling and am a little wary too. I did get it bitten once when I put my face in somebunnys space. |

Foo looked at my like I was crazy the first time I tried, but she's gotten better at not giving me a side eye when I wiggle at her now. After seeing the Language of... site the first time, I wanted to try so bad. Like Elrohwen said, Foo seems like she's listening when I talk, she'll wiggle faster if I'm excited and slow down if I'm not talking about anything exciting, what to have for dinner, or playing with her. |

That little clicking noise they do with their teeth when they're content. It's often called a tooth purr. Mine most often do 3 clicks in a row. Every now and then I get the continuous subtle tooth purr. I often click back when they tooth purr. Sort of like letting them know im happy sitting there with them too, or I enjoy petting them. Generally letting them know I love them I hope. |
