  Hi im new to this site.
  
  Hope you guys can help me with some of my questions!
  
  I got a supposedly mini lop rabbit at 9 weeks of age. He is a minimal harlequin, and is a bit skittish.
  
  He seems quite large for his age to be a mini lop so i wanted to know the normal weight.
  
  At 12 weeks of age he weighed in at 900g and at 16 weeks is 1.1kg.
  
  Am i dealing with a Mini lop or a dwarf?
  
  Im not too bothered about the size i was just curious to know what they are expected to weight and about the rate of growth.

  Baby is going on 8 months old and she is prob about 4 lbs and the vet said she is pretty much done growing.

  That gives me an indication then that hes only got another 4 months of growing so still might be a mini lop.
  Your buns are adorable Bullrider. I wish i could have more but im housesitting atm and dont actually have a place to live

  My mini lop is 4.8 pounds at a year old.

  The breeder I got my Holland Lop told me mini Lops are actually larger than the Holland Lops. I was told mine would be no larger than 4 pounds. I believe he’s around 3ish pounds at the moment. So I’d assume yours would be around that weight too! He looks adorable btw!

  Mini’s are bigger than Hollands. And from what I’ve read/heard/been told, they can weigh anywhere from 4lbs to 6 lbs.

  Hmm perhaps they have different weights in Australia as i read that Mini lops here are around 1.5kg on average which is about 3.3 pounds…. last i weighted him he would have been 2.4pounds, so in the range then
  oooops just read than in America your holland lops are our mini lops so would make sense where i got the 1.5kg (3.3pounds) from! So confusing!

  The Mini Lop is a very popular rabbit breed that is featured in numerous rabbit shows throughout the United States. In the USA, it is the third smallest Lop overall, the Holland lop and American fuzzy lops are smaller, as well as the smallest non-dwarfed lop. It is a different breed from the Holland Lop, which is the smallest (and only dwarf lop) of lop breeds in the USA. Its equivalent in the UK is the Dwarf Lop; however there is a breed called the Miniature Lop in that area, which is the equivalent of the Holland Lop in the United States.

  Ahhh!!!! *grabs head* Why can’t they just make buns universal??? LOL Agh so confusing! hehe And our buns do look soooo much alike! Mine is just a darker version hehe Yours is so adorable! :p But then again I am probably biased haha

  I know its silly would make it a whole lot easier to understandif they were called the same! Sorry guys guess i learnt something new today We cant get holland lops over here as mini’s are our smallest then the dwarfs which are nearly double the size so around the 6lbs.
  Haha yes we are biased with our similar buns ^_^

  haha Totally! But they are soooo cute!!! Who wouldn’t be biased? Right! lol Btw does yours get mistaken for a dog? lol Mine does ALL the time! I blame it on the ears haha

  Not yet but my old one used to follow me around like a dog and i used to take him down the park and people would be like what is that haha. But they are like mini puppies so cute. Most people dont realise they have characteristics sometimes like dogs Im housesitting atm and there are 2 cats and they freak when Harley is around he comes hopping up to them and they run away, its hilarious to watch!

  LOL, even years later I can’t get the AUS lops straight. And even within breeds, there can be so much variation based on lineage and diet/care. Baby buns grow very fast for a while, and then they start to slow down around the 6 month mark. Full weight might not be reached until a year old.

  LOL seems like they can put on more weight after 6 months but the lenght and basic cody structure is pretty much done growing. Baby is a mix of an american fuzzy lop and minni lop as far as I can tell.

  in aus our mini lops are actually what americans call holland lops and our dwarf lops are called mini lops in america (confusing right )
  i have a dwarf lop (aus lingo ) and he is on the big side at 2.9kg..dw the vet assured me hes not overweight lol,
  He should stop growing at maybe 6 months?

  Is that 570 grams? Mini lops are different depending on where you live. In UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, the mini lop is the smallest lop breed. In the US it is the 2nd smallest, the holland lop is the smallest. If you have a US mini lop that is around 570 grams, I am guessing it is only about 6 weeks old. Ideally they should stay with the mother until they are 8 weeks old but as they are eating solid food by 4-6 weeks, people often let them go to new homes early. Too early really.
