I startled my rabbit the other day by accident and she hit her right eyes some how as she was jumping into her cage. I checked on her the next day and there was red where the white of her eye is, and there is quite a bit of swelling in the corner. Is this something that can go away with time, or should i just go to the vet to get her checked out?

I would have the vet check her just to be sure she is okay. Don’t want to fool with the eyes.

Definitely a vet check is in order… It looks like she has hit her eye hard enough to bruise it. (Have done that myself.) But it would be best to make sure that there is no further build up of pressure behind the eye. I suspect all will be well but you will feel so much better if you have it confirmed by a professional.

Definitely bring her to a vet! My rabbit passed away over the weekend with an eye that started off looking like this (the vet thinks it was caused by a hurt tooth and the infection spread to the eye) The eye progressed so fast that I hadn’t even noticed it until she went into GI stasis because she stopped eating. If you’ve caught it soon enough im sure she’ll be fine.

I don’t mean to startle you and im sure they are not at all the same problem, but i’ve gotten so weary of their little eyes. Keep us updated!

It is hard to see what we’re looking at here. Is that the white part of the eye that is red? Or is that the membrane?
