Cinnabun has decided she has a liking for banana (weirdo, she hated them when I first tried to offer it to her…) but I worry about offering her too much. Are banana chips good for bunnies? Can I give her more banana chips than bites of fresh bananas? Does the same apply for other dried fruits like apples?

I think the banana chips are higher in sugar than a regular banana. Have you even tried offering her the banana chips? She may like banana’s but not banana chips. I’ve had that happen to me before.

I haven’t. I figured she’d like both since she loves banana’s, but I’d hate to buy them and not have her like them. But if they are higher in sugar, I should probably just stick to a few bites of banana every now and then.

I get the Oxbow ones. They don’t add anything to them. My buns love them. I just give them small pieces so they don’t consume too much.

I think the Oxbow ones are actually freeze dried rather than dehydrated too. They are softer than banana chips. They may not have as much sugar concentration because of freeze drying rather than dehydrating – but I’m no expert on that…

Bunjamin like dried bananas rather than real. I haven’t tried him on real in a while though. His taste are still evolving. Anyway, I use the dehydrated ones an break them up super tiny like smaller than a peanut (just for reference) Maybe the size of my pinky nail. If you do offer chips, offer less. Usually dried has more sugar.

My buns LOVE banana! I’ve tried the Oxbow chips and they go nuts over those too. I’ve never offered dried banana chips for humans just because of how incredibly sweet they taste. Tastes like double the sugar.

I will give my buns a little bite a regular banana every once in awhile. It makes them super hyper for some reason. I’m not sure why, nothing happens when they get the Oxbow banana. “Real” banana just has them bouncing off the walls for some reason.

I bought my buns the Oxbow Banana Chips and they are freeze-dried, way softer, and … I even curiously tried one. They’re actually really good! :X hahaahhaha. But my buns were NOT interested in them at all. Not even a little bit. They’ve rejected like everything we’ve given to them so far the first time though. Took my first bun like 2 months to even try a veggie. Weirdo.

Chacha does not like real bananas, but prefers the dried banana pieces, like the Oxbow type ones.

I would use bananas and banana chips like I would any other treat– in moderation! Spoiling buns is part of the fun, so a treat every now and then isn’t bad. (Especially if they are real foods and not processed/sugar added treats) I usually limit it to one treat a day, if buns is not sick or nearing a molt. (I never feed more than a few bites of something though.) Otherwise, his papaya vitamins are the treats

tanlover – Wooly is like that. He will turn his nose up at everything. Then he sees Leopold eating it and after awhile he will decide to try it.

mocha200’s buns are just the same. Lulu always comes right away and Mocha waits for Lulu’s reaction at treat time.

Foo just tried dried fruit for the first time today. She turned her nose up at raisins and wasn’t too interested, but devoured the bite of papaya that I gave her, like crazy. She seems to like banana chips as well. The mix of food we have for her, Prima Vita brand has hay and small bits of dried veggies in it as well and she loves it.

LBJ – Hahahaha, so funny to watch them… one of mine will be like “get that out of my face before I eat your hand off” and then he’ll see another one eating it and be like… “give me a bite before I eat your face off.” LOL.

tanlover – the look on his face is hilarious. He will wrinkle his nose up and have this huge look of disapproval.

Make your own banana chips with fresh bananas.

                                        Buy a dehydrator.
