so i have some pieces of wood left over from the shelf in his cage and i was wondering if i could make a ramp out of one of the scrap pieces? is it even necessary? he doesn’t seem to be having problems getting on or off the shelf but he doesnt really get on it that much. i can’t upload the pictures here cause they’re too big so:

the first two are the pictures of his ramp. but just the steepness, is it too steep? obviously i will buy little pegs or whatever and glue them on for support for climbing it (i literally just grabbed a piece of scrap wood and put it there, its out of the cage now). but is too steep? should i just leave the ramp out? the shelf is 18″ high off the ground. which isn’t that tall but still. thanks!

          Hi,

Personally I have a ramp that goes into the hutch for my rabbits, and neither one of them use it at all. If your guy is getting up and down alright, then I wouldn’t think it’s necessary, but I suppose if you tried it out, it wouldn’t hurt.

Maybe you could use the spare piece to create another small level on the other side of his cage, or cut it in half and join the two pieces together in a point like this, / \ for him to use as a hideaway?

Sorry – I should add that to me, the ramp does look a bit steep.

          Best of luck!

If he can jump up, he doesn’t need a ramp.

Are you able to put some two by four supports under the free edge of the shelf, it doesn’t look very stable. You need some vertical supports too.
