So Stormys been having some weird shaped sticky poos that my vet is concerned about, among other things. She wants me to bring In a sample for testing. This morning he had normal poos and then super runny poos, like some round soft poos and the rest is like pudding. I’m bringing in a sample this a.m. I just let him out and he immediately lounged. I’m super worried.

What could be causing this? What should I do re: adjusting his diet? Hopefully my vet will call me later today with advice. So worried right now.

He had a dose of Benebac on Tuesday and is due another tonight. Then again in a week I think.

You know my rabbit Bogie has runny poo’s alot too. Neither vet I’ve taken him too have been able to diagnose anything and always suggest Benebac. This has been going on for 2 years. I have no idea what has been causing it – I do wonder if it’s perhaps related to arthritis though. Bogie is about 10 and while he hasn’t been diagnosed with it, I imagine he has a bit of it since arthritis seems to be very common in aging rabbits.

That’s what I’ve read too, but I can’t see how arthritis can cause runny poops, other than them not reaching their cecals. This is def not cecals. I do see him reach his cecals in the evening. Last night he was having tiny, misshapen poos so I gave him less pellets this a.m.

Stormy is sitting beside me eating hay right now. Should I offer Critical Care? He’s drinking a good amount so I’m not really worried about dehydration. He ate all his veg and pellets for breakfast. Should I cut out fruit treats for a few days (and risk his little bunny wrath)?

Vets going to send the poos away for testing for presence of blood and bacteria. Will probably be about a week till results. I’m still waiting results from the radiologist for his head and stomach X-rays.

Yeah, the poo’s from Bogie are very runny and stinky too. Bogie does not get pellets at all either. I don’t think Critical Care is going to really do much to tell you the truth. I don’t see how it can either, but who really knows in rabbits. I’ll be interested if your vet comes back with anything. It concerns me in Bogie but doesn’t overly concern me considering he’s had this problem for 2 years and is fine otherwise. Bogie also does not have any dental problems or didn’t when I took him in the last time and many times that can cause runny poo as well. Just rereading Dana Krempel’s article too on runny poop and she does mention Arthritis as being a possible culprit.

The runny poo may be a combination of the cecals and urine – that’s been my thoughts with Bogie – I cannot prove this of course since I obviously cannot take super runny poo in for testing.

When Mango had the gummy runny poo, the vet could not find anything in his poop at all and we sent it out for testing too and nothing. So I can only surmise that his problem was due to his arthritis as well.

I guess to my feeling now is that how could it be from intestinal parasites…I just cannot imagine where my indoor rabbits where be exposed to parasites.

I saw your post on Facebook just now and came to BB to find if you’d elaborated here.
I’m sorry this is happening to Stormy. I think that, after you give the samples to the vet, a bit of Critical Care won’t hurt if you’re worried that he’s getting enough nutrition, or are trying to make it soft on purpose to clear out any issue that may be causing this.

Interesting about the arthritis. Maybe there are muscles or joints that get inflamed or effected by inflammation nearby that impacts on their digestive tracts moving the food. (An uneducated guess of course.)
                  Is he drinking his water?

Go to this website and checked the first consumer’s review. I saw this comment earlier this morning and bought it.

I contact one of the doctor in the oxbow company and she mentioned that it is okay to use both regular and natural science pellets mix or pick one of the two pellet products.

For your situation, try to switch to natural science slowly and hope it will improve their poopy issues.

This is my suggestion, it may or may not work but it is worth a try. Up to you.

I’ve never heard of that food, Nobody, I’ll have to look into it. Thanks.

Thanks for all the vibes. No runny poops since Friday a.m. and it’s now Sat a.m. He seems to be feeling okay, still begging for treats and full off kisses. Just so lazy though. It’s really hard to see my spunky little guy so slowed down. Before, he would rarely lay down during run time now that’s mostly all he does.

Vet said to reduce veg a bit and stick to only 2 familiar kinds for now and very little fruit. He won’t be happy about that.

Hoping to get some (good) results this week. Should get the fecal and Xrays.

Im so worried. Last night, for run time, he just layed down for an hour. Not sure if its the arthritis or hes just feeling unwell. He seems fine in his condo though, hoping over his cage ledge and eating hay. I would be ecstatic to see one of his famous couch zooms right now.

                                    Please keep the vibes coming.

He’s probably just slowing down. My seniors are all loafers.

Hopefully the xrays will give more of a clue to what’s going on. Will you be able to see kidneys from the stomach xray?

Outside if his own health factoring in, what about your water source? Does that change a bit? Ours here does depending on the season.

Keep us updated. Sending snuggles to Stormy!
