Hey guys its Lilly’s slave here and i was just wondering if nows finally the time to convince my mom to get Lilly a vet. Yesterday i was sitting in my front yard with my mom during Lilly’s playtime and asked her when we’re gonna get a vet for her. My mom straight shot replied that she does not need a vet. Lilly is four months old now and I think that it’s time for her spay. any ideas on how to convince her? also, is she still too young for a spay????????????

She might still be a little young for a spay. Regardless of that, she does need a vet. A good one with rabbit experience. I understand that you as a minor have to follow your parents guidance but your mom’s responsibility as the technical owner of the pet should understand that rabbits are not pocket pets. They need the same amount of attention, space, and health screenings as a dog or cat, if not more. The only difference is that a rabbit can’t make noise to say they’re hungry, in pain, unhappy, etc like a dog or cat can. A checkup at an exotics for a rabbit is usually cheaper than or same price as a dogs check-up. At least for me where I live. Maybe you should do some research for some in your area and visit rabbit.org to explain the health risks of bunnies, especially the cancer risks for un-spayed female bunnies to your mom. My parents always responded well when I did research and approached them maturely about subjects like this.

My mum is the same. We don’t have a vet for our cat or dog so she isn’t going to get one for the rabbit either. I’m thinking of taking out pet insurance on my own just in case.

Well that’s not very fair :/ Doing your research and going to her well educated is probably your best bet then! Haha thank you, she’s a little monkey!

Print out rabbit education and give it to your mother. Like a kid, a rabbit needs to see a doctor too

She needs to be spayed and a vet will be needed to do that obviously. It’s possible that her bird vet may also see rabbits, or may know someone to refer you guys to.
