Felix was laying close up to the side of his cage and my dog came in and spooked him and his foot got caught I’m calling the vet tomorrow to set an appointment for a checkup. He hasn’t been to the vet yet because I just got him :/ I’m so sad and I feel bad for him! He doesn’t put much pressure on his one foot, but he does sometimes just fine. I hope he feels better! He has just been sleeping in his cage and hanging out in there a lot even when I let him out to run.

You may need to see how he is tomorrow if he is still not putting pressure, he may need to be seen soon. You don’t want him to be in pain.

I tried calling today and their rabbit savvy vet was out of the office until tomorrow. I would go to another vet but they’re all too far away D: I’m hoping to get in right away tomorrow morning because the woman on the phone said if I call early enough I can go that day. I hope he’ll be okay

Tomorrow should be fine. I’m sure he will be fine until tomorrow.

Hope your bunny feels better soon. Let us know what the vet says.

Saw your post and thought I would comment — my bun actually did the SAME EXACT THING about a month ago. He was limping pretty badly and barely putting any pressure on the foot so we whisked him off to the emergency vet right away since our vet couldn’t take him and suggested he go there just in case he had a break or the such. They basically watched him hop around for a few minutes, gave him a shot of pain meds, and sent him on his way home. The emergency vet told us since he was putting pressure on it and everything looked fine with his foot (angling and no obvious bones out of place) that it was probably just a bad smack. She told us to wait 5-7 days, if he wasn’t better then bring him back. Sure enough he limped his way around for about 5 days and then out of nowhere he was binkying everywhere and completely back to normal. But the trip did cost us $145. Which sucked considering he was pretty much fine, just needed time for the bang-up to heal. Our guy was limping pretty badly at first too so I wouldn’t worry to much unless you notice he’s not eating or drinking.

On a side note though : I freak out pretty bad when I think somethings wrong with my buns — so you may wanna take him in just for the ease of mind if nothing else. I’m sure they’ll give him pain meds which will probably help for a little while also!

I’m so upset that I have to wait until this Tuesday. The vet is out until then, so they’re making me wait. It’s 61.50 just for the visit. Which is good. That’s one thing I hate about living in a small town away from everything -_- the close vets and doctors are always busy 24/7.
He still runs around and binkies, but isn’t putting much pressure on his foot. I hope it’s nothing and that I just worry too much x.x

It sounds EXACTLY like my baby so I wouldn’t worry too much. Running around and binkies are always EXCELLENT signs so unless he starts to not eat or drink or just lays in his litter box, I’d say he’ll be okay to wait! Don’t worry too much. Especially if he’s binkying and happy. Let us know if anything changes!

I was terrified to so try not to let it drive you insane. I started bawling — so believe me, I feel your pain of needing to make sure they’re okay. Just give him lots of attention and treats! My bun when he did this kept coming up to us and sitting next to us and would snuggle into us like he wanted to pet constantly. Always giving them love and attention and helping to nurse them back to help can do nothing but make your bond with your bun stronger! My little guy LOVED getting all the attention.

I’m still a little worried :p but your story about your bun made me feel a lot better haha.

Even if it is not a break, and just a sprain or minor injury, pain can sometimes cause a rabbit to stop eating and/or cause their digestive system slow down. I am a bit confused as you said “tomorrow” earlier, but then later said “Tuesday” which is a few days from now.

Though I too have had a bunny who hurt her leg and was fine in a couple of days, I was still able to get pain meds from my vet. And there is no way for us to know for sure that your bunny has just a sprained leg and not something more serious. So though it doesn’t sound like an emergency,  it is still urgent in the fact you don’t want your bunny to be in pain and so hopefully “Tomorrow” is when your bunny will see the vet. If your bunny is still limping tomorrow, and you don’t have an appointment, then try to see if they can fit you in or at least see if they can have the vet call you back.

                              How is your bunny peeing/pooing/eating?

He’s been doing everything fine. peeing, pooping, eating, and playing. All the normal things he does :/
I’ve been calling every day the vet to see if they have openings, but my set appointment is Tues. I left my number and asked the receptionist at the vet office if she could have the vet call me, but he hasn’t yet. My bun seems content and happy, but still doesnt put much pressure on his foot. He’s coming out of his cage more than he was before though. Today he was playing with toys and seemed really happy. He tried to climb up on things but I wouldnt let him.

they gave me ointment that im supposed to put on and a bandage so he doesnt lick it off.
They said if he doesnt show signs of getting better by tuesday (my appointment) to bring him in, but if hes fine to cancel it.
I’m happy it wasnt anything super horrible!

                                          Great news!!!

Now the question would be-can you find a vet reasonably close who keeps appointments open, or can take walk ins for emergent situations. Just in case, in future.

                                            Yeah I’m looking into that.
A friend of mine said that she knows someone with a private vet office a little farther away from the one I go to now, but they allow walk-ins. She hasnt given me the number or directions to check it out yet :/
Once I do Im gonna go see if its a good place before I take my bun there :3

I’m so glad it wasn’t anything too serious like a broken bone, but it’s good that the cut/wound is being treated so as prevent an abscess from developing. Not sure how your bunny will not chew on the bandage though??

                                              Healing vibes!

He was confused at first, but now doesnt mind.
I feel really silly for not noticing a cut on his foot o.O but his feets are very hairy XD

I’m so glad I came across this post! I just clipped my Rabbit’s nails for the first time and must have held his leg at an awkward angle because now he is limping! I feel so so so awful about it! What would be the signs that it is a bone injury or bad sprain rather than just pain that requires pain relief?

He is still pooping and taking treats and he isn’t making a noise so I didn’t want to rush him to emergency if it would stress him out just for a diagnosis of “wait a few days to see if he gets better”.
